System turns off by itself

Samsung HT-WX70 home theater system turns itself off after a few minutes of use. Brand new, worked fine for about two weeks, now this ****. Face displays "Good Bye" then powers down. Tried unplugging for awhile and reseting by holding the stop button on the receiver while the unit was off. No results.

Yes, same problem here. Worked fine for a few weeks and then turns itself off automatically. I think it might be getting to hot, so I made sure its getting plenty of air, but still happens.

I have the same problem how to fix it?

  • AfaS Jul 19, 2008

I have the same problem and it is driving me crazy. I've tried everything: holding down the "stop' button for over five seconds while the power is off; unplugging for an hour; making sure that it is extremely well ventilated; nothing seems to work. I even checked to make sure that the speakers are properly connected according to the manufacturer's colour coding!

My unit said "protection", "goodbye" so I opened it up and found a capacitor to one of the speakers had blown, right by the fan. It's a 35 cent part and a simple solder job. The hardest part was getting the face plate off the dvd tray so I could get to the circuit board.

Hmm, great support forum. No highly paid representative has a solution?

I figured it may be a faulty fan that keeps the unit cool. So when it gets hot it just turns itself off. The company should have sent out a recall if this was the case, for I have heard multiple complaints with the same system. I will do some more research and see if I can find a solution for the rest of you guys also.

I turn on my system and it works ok for a couple of minutes. Then it started showing "fan check" for another minute, then shuts itself down. Is it the fan? How can I check that?

To answer your question, yes, it is the fan. There will be screws holding the top cover onto the unit; remove these, and find the fan(also remove any dust you find inside, as this also could render the fan useless due to airflow problems). Make sure it's not jammed or clogged or anything such, and plug the unit in, turn it on, and make sure the fan turns on(in some cases, it waits a maximum of one minute to do so.) If it does not turn on after one minute, then a new fan is needed. Any fan with the same size and power connector will do.

Fan check shows up on display. This is a Samsung HT-WX70 home DVD theater system. About a minute after I turn it on, "fan check" shows up on the display. What do I need to do?

Can you see or hear if the fan is running? Is there sufficient clearance (4 inches) between it and the nearest surface for airflow? Is it clogged up with dust bunnies? You may be able to fix it yourself.

Unplug the unit. Look inside the vent at the rear. Reach in with a non-conductive probe to see if the fan turns freely. If not, it's bound up and needs replacement or unclogging.

If it turns freely with power off but doesn't rotate with power on, it's dead.

If it turns sufficiently fast with power on and you still have Fan Check, it's a sensor.

Samsun HT-WX70 overheating and shutting down

The receiver in the Samsung ht-wx70 system that I have runs fine until all of a sudden I hear a loud bang and it shuts off. If I touch the unit, it is burning hot. I took the fan out and it works when I attached it to a 9v battery. Is it the fan or another problem that I should be looking at.

Unit intermittently makes the TV flicker the sound and picture.

I would be checking and trying new leads from the antenna part of your telly to where they go into the wall , we had a problem with a new tv that used to turn itself off and on we got the tv replaced with another new one and it still did it . it turned out to be a faulty cable from the pay tv box on top of the telly as they emit FM waves just like the radio and it was sending signals to the remote on the tv to turn it off

I have a samsung home theater system HT-X70. After 10 to 15 minutes the word protection scrolls across the screen then goodbye and finally the unit shuts itself off.

ther is dc voltage applying your speakers by amplifire itself and turn on speaker protection circuit itself.
it can be happens because
1.loose connection in amplifire board
2.faulty output section of amplifire
3.short circuit of speakers
4.error detecting circuit faulty.
if youcan open the cover and clean the circuit for dust and resolder the circuit with 30 W soldering iron cairfully.if you want the more asistence please come again
