Have you contacted the manufacturer yet in order to better assist you with a legit repair electronic place in your area?

I also goggled the model# since the manufacturer didn't pull it. It appears you have a UK 2001 model which would mean you are experience the collision between PAL and NTSC!! You might either not get audio otherwise you will get a scrambled audio sound which sounds like munckins then a distroted pixelated and zigg-zagg appearance consistantly on every screen. There isnt anything you can do with this since everything is broadcasted in NTSC in the USA and no pal unless you have a pal DVD player.

Do you have a pal DVD player that might work ok with this?

Let me know. Thanks.

btw, the different between pal and ntsc is a totally different speed between them which it just doesnt and never will work together.

Why does my vizio tv only stay on for a few seconds before the picture goes fuzzy and the tv makes a very loud screeching noise and shuts itself off

Sounds like the power supply board has gone out. It can probably be replaced, but only by someone qualified to do so.

TV turns itself off after a few seconds, no picture at all

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

36" tube tv. picture fuzzy and out of focus

It sounds like you may have a G1 intermittent short in the picture tube, which unless it is still in warranty would not be worth repairing.
