Canon PowerShot A95 Digital Camera Logo

My Canon A95 has horizontal grid lines on the lcd screen after a photo is taken. The view on the screen is normal when you are framing the photo but after you take the shot the playback of that scene has these grayish horizontal lines and the image color is washed out. Changing the batteries and the cf card makes no difference and loading the photos on Adobe Photoshop shows the same problem on the computer screen. This just started yesterday after we downloaded a bunch of photos from the camera to our Adobe Photoshop file. What's going on?

SOURCE: My Canon A95 has horizontal grid lines on the LCD

If the menus and icons look normal, but images are distorted or discolored, you may have an image sensor (CCD) problem. See Canon's service notice regarding this issue here. Canon will repair your camera at no cost regardless of warranty. Contact them at your regional Canon service agency.

Canon Power Shot SX10 IS - I've had camera for about 4 months. As of a week ago, I can only use small view finder for taking photos; the 2.5 screen for viewing does not work now. Able to view photos...

You can reset the camera to factory settings. If after that, you still have the same problem, make valid the Canon warranty since it's 4 months old.

A95 LCD screen black and unable to take photos

There are quite a few of us with symilar problem, but the screen is not completely black: it has some purple or pinkish color when facing light. Old pics and menu can still be viewed. I noticed 4 symilar threads on Canon A95 within the last 5 mins without any search, just looking at the top questions.

Have a digital camera (canon powershot A95) the LCD screen view normal but when taken picture on a bright sunny day, the picture turns pink with white horizontal lines....help?

Definitely sounds like you have a bad CCD. Good news for you though, this particular model has been recognized by Canon to have a faulty CCD and will repair or replace your Canon A95 free-of-charge.

From Canon website:

"U.S. residents are kindly directed to contact the Canon Customer Support Center for further assistance at 1-800-828-4040. Support hours are Monday thru Friday - 8:00 AM to 12:00 midnight; and Saturday 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM (all times EST). Alternatively, if electronic support is preferred, please send your email to [email protected]".

Explain to them you have a bad CCD on your Canon A95 digital camera and that you are interested in having it serviced by them under the recall.

Good luck from darntoothysam.com!
