The needles are changed by inserted the hex wrench into what looks to be holes on the front and left side where the needles go into the machine.I'm not sure what size the hex wrench is but it's pretty small. From the manual,
"Removing Needle: Unplug the machine. Turn the handwheel counterclockwise to raise the needle bar to its highest position. Loosen the needle clamp with the allen wrench and pull the needle out." and
"Inserting needle: When the neddle bar is at the highest position, insert a new needle in the needle holder, making sure that the groove of the needle faces you. Push the needle as far up as it will go and tighten the needle clamp screw." "Removing Needle: Unplug the machine. Turn the handwheel counterclockwise to raise the needle bar to its highest position. Loosen the needle clamp with the allen wrench and pull the needle out."

The machine takes DB x 1, or 1738 needles, and a size 14 needle is recommended.

Hope this helps!

I too, cannot find my manual for my Pfaff 794. I need to make "neckerchiefs" for my brother's boyscout troop. A regular serged edge isn't doing the job. The stitches need to be closer together and I think I may not need both needles. I also think I may need to change the foot. Can you please tell me the settings to accomplish this? Thanks! Cheryl :)

You can also try eBay. If not lucky there, try finagling one using a nail with a drinking straw over the nail to hold the spool.

Hobbylock 797 how to thread

The hobbylocks all thread in much the same fashion.  There is a diagram for a four thread hobbylock on this website.  It would be better if you found a Pfaff dealer to show you as it is quite complicated.

http://www.pfaffmachines.co.uk/overlock/pfaff-hobbylock-2-overlocker.htm

Once you have it threaded, always cut the old threads at the spool and knot new ones on and pull through.  You will have to thread the needles as the knots will not pass through but it does save an awful lot of frustration when needing new colours on the spools.

I can't find the way to change the left needle.

You can order a manual here - http://www.sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine_Manuals/Pfaff_Manuals/794_796_Hobbylock_Instruction_Manual.htm

In the meantime, contact your local Pfaff dealer. Ask if someone can help you if you bring the serger in.

Serger 794 from pfaff--calanda type 794

There are two holes running vertically inside the needle arm.........the needles are held firm by very small screws or hex allen keys.........they may have worked loose over time, if they have fallen out and been lost, it is a call to your  local Pfaff dealer for advice......be sure to quote model number.
Your User manual may have a diagram to assist.

Have you ever changed the needles since buying this machine ??
Needles ought to be changed every 6 - 8 hrs of sewing, and more often with heavy or abrasive fabric.

Needle keeps falling out of my overlocker hobbylock 774 by pfaff

The threads inside the screw hole are probably stripped. If so you will need to have them rethreaded and a different screw used or have the needle bar changed. For this you should see a technician.
