Homportal 1100 not allowing connections

I lost my original setup cd for my homeportal 1100 and I think I am going to need it to get re-connected to my router. Right now I am not able to to to it from any computer. I thought maybe using the original software it came with might help me to get re-connected to it. Does anyone know where I can find the software?

My 2wire product seems to need resetting every few minutes. As soon as it's unplugged and plugged back in, it works. However, after a few minutes, it loses connection again. Is this an issue with my ISP,...

  • Re-run the Setup Wizard using one of the following methods if you are unable to browse the Internet:

  • Re-run the HomePortal Setup Wizard from the HomePortal CD.

  • Re-run the HomePortal Setup Wizard by going to http://homeportal/setup (http://172.16.0.1/setup) in your Web browser.

  • (For Windows only.) Re-run the HomePortal Setup Wizard by clicking Start > Programs > 2Wire Gateway > Run 2Wire Setup Wizard.

If required, make sure that you are using your unique username and password. If the problem persists, contact your ISP to verify your connection type and login information (if necessary). After verifying your connection type, also verify that you are using the correct keycode by referring to your HomePortal documentation or by visiting http://www.2Wire.com/keycode.

My laptop can't connect via wireless to my att/dsl 2wire wireless router/modem. it see's it but cant connect

Hi toasoulinh,

First off you need to go to your network connections, and right click on the wireless connection and view status. Then click on the support tab, and then the details tab. This will show you what the IP configuration is. You need to have a gateway (which is your wireless router IP) and a assigned IP address for the laptop, and also a dns IP to resolve who you are. I'm going to guess that one of them are missing, perhaps the DNS? If there is any missing click on the repair button, and see if it corrects the problem. If not, then you have a bigger problem then you bargined for. You will need to go to your network connection and click on wireless connection. Inside you will find a add wireless connection button. Click this button and windows will walk you through creating a new connection. If that doen't to the trick.
You can reconfigure your HomePortal without using the setup CD.
  • Open your Web browser.
  • Type http://homeportal/setup in the address or location line of your browser.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process.
    • If you need a key code, you can find it at HERE
    • If you need to replace drivers for your 2Wire network adapters, you can download them directly from the 2Wire support Web site.
Good Luck,

And don't leave a rating

Thanks

Netzero connection problem?

A modem is a device that allows you to use a voice telephone line to connect your computer to the internet. If you contact NetZero Tech Support, they will send you a CD to run through the setup. The modem connects to the wall with a standard telephone wire. (The ends are known as RJ11)

I need info about connecting to the internet via modem

I assume when you say you want a modem, it's because you want a wired connection to the internet. Your HomePortal already has an integrated ADSL modem, and it will not be possible for you to add another one to your line.

If you want a wired connection to the internet, you can either run ethernet cable from the HomePortal downstairs, or you can use a wireless bridge like the SMC EZ Connect g. (There are several brands of adapters that are marketed especially for gaming consoles, but they function similarly to the non-gaming bridges.) The instructions included with the equipment will tell you how to enter the necessary security information for your network.

Also, if you'd like to avoid switching the cable connection every time you move between the X-box and the computer, you can run the wireless bridge into a small network switch, and then plug both items into that. (This would also work with the cable from downstairs if you choose that route.) This gives the added advantage of allowing simultaneous access by both machines.

Trying to hookup a wireless router to HP 1100

DSL uses PPOE, which may be different than what you had previously. Cable, for example, uses TCP/IP.
Re-set the router to defaults, and follow the instructions for PPOE, which should be in your manual or setup disk. Your ISP may have this info on their site, or you can get it at the Netgear site:
