Replaced empt 3E cartridge. Now it won't print

Our old cartridge was definitely empty. I bought a replacement 3E.  I put it in.  It won't print.  I removed cartridge.  Reinserted it. Tried to print again.  Nothing.  h e l p

The 3e cartridge ran empty. I changed to print color and It still wouldn't print the test text, but would print Microsoft Flag in color in the top right conner. It will print the ink status for all five colors. Neither the 3e black or the 6 black print very well. The color bar test prints ok except for the the 3e black. which I expected as it is out of ink. I reloaded the printer driver, and reran the printer tests with the same results.

I had removed and reinstalled the empty 3e cartridge. Sorry for the Confusion. I hadn't put a new 3e cartrige in until today. Them I ran " deep clean" twice. The printer works fine. I still don't understand why the printer wouldn't print color, when I was had set the printer to print in color when my 3e cartridge was empty and all colors including the 6 black showed full.

Can Dell A960 ink cartridges be refilled and re-used or not?

A lot of inkjet printer manufacturers make you purchase their ink cartridges by installing a chip in the cartridges so when the cartridge is empty it cannot be reused by filling the cartridge.

Changed toner---back side now prints dirty with band on the top. Did the cleaning procedure - no luck

If you changed toner because old was empty and now you have this defect with the new cartrige, it is most likley a defective cartridge. Try the old cartridge again, if it prints clean, then you know for sure it is the cartridge. If you purchased a new HP cartridge, get it replaced by HP, they warranty their toners against defects. If you bought a 3rd party toner, return it to where you bought it and get them to replace it. If you had your old toner refilled by someone, get your money back, they don't know what they are doing. This type of defect is often caused by a filled waste toner bin then then runs back out when you print. Some refillers just throw toner in and don't empty the waste toner bin.

Installeds a refilled colour cartridge and will work but printer says empt..may do damage. Lexmark x5450 colour cartridge # 33.

Using a refill for this printer will not "do damage." The damage they are referring to is if you continue printing with an empty cartridge you can damage the print head on the cartridge. Since you replace the print head every time you replace the cartridge, you never damage your printer.

No cartridge prompt

try to clean contacts on cartridge and print head with alcohol, if it doesn't help, try to put back your old empty cartridge, if it will prompt only for that new cartridg, you bought, than the new cartridge is probably broken, replace it

I have a Canon Pixma IP 5000 inkjet printer and am using Mac OS 10.3.9. It has 5 ink cartridges: 2 black (3e and 6) and one each yellow, magenta and cyan. I use it all day every day. After printing...

Thanks for getting back to me.
Sorry this ain't a solution but it seems to be the only cash-free way to contact you. No problem not solved - though I have tried everything. Dismantled the printer; washed, dried and replaced the waste ink pads; washed the print head; blew compressed air through the print-head sponge; replaced the cartridge 3 times; printed hundreds of test prints. I can't think of anything else to do and so I think the only solution is to replace the printhead (probably not even available) or replace the printer. The latter is looking most likely.

Replaced empt 3E cartridge. Now it won't print

Kind of an X-file situation there. You should try an other cartridge, maybe that one is defective

Black will not print

This may seem obvious but have you tried cleaning and refreshing the print heads? I've had a similar problem with only certain colors and the cleaning seemed to help.

Inputting new ink cartridges

Error 1102 means cart error. Try cleaning the copper contacts on the cart and the contacts in the printer also. If still fails, then put old carts and check if u still get same error. If u dont get the error then there is a problem with the cart itself. But if you have bought a refilled cart then the print heads on the carts are bad. Needs replacement.
