My wife just told me the dryer is taking 2 cycles to dry clothes when it used to only take 1. Wondering if maybe a setting may of gotten bumped or something? I checked the vent tube going outside, and don't see any lint build-up, and there appears to be plenty of warm air venting out. Any thoughts?
EVEN THOUGH THERE IS WARM AIR COMING OUT THE EXHAUST, IT STILL MAY HAVE A RESTRICTION IN THE DUCT WORK. DISCONNECT THE EXHAUST FROM THE BACK OF THE DRYER FOR ONE LOAD OF LAUNDRY. IF IT DRYS THE CLOTHES O.K., YOU HAVE A RESRICTION SOMEWHERE IN THE EXHAUST.

We cleaned our unit out and then my son pushed it back into the narrow area and the unit worked better but still not as it should, so we ran it that way and then pulled it out again and found the after pulling the unit back out from when my son put it in small area the Exhuast pipe pipe got crinkled very bad and was stopping the airflow. We cleaned it out throughly, I check Temp- on the back wall exhaust heat in the drum and the temp was 381 Degrees then going out the Lint boot it was 184 degrees and down on the blower the temp was 184 degrees when the burner was running and 138 degrees. when burner was off. temp at outside wall 176-150 degrees. I cleaned the Thermister and the temp. sensor in the exhaust pipe. with rubbering alchol, also the lint sensor. Hope these things work.

I have been having this same problem for about a year. Very frustrating and it really defeats any purpose of having an energy efficient applicance.
I checked the line for any build up of lint and did not find one. Sears technicians told me to rub the dryer sensor with alcohol and that did not work either. Frustrating.
The dryer ducting only goes 4 feet from the dryer to the exterior wall, so I pulled the dryer out and checked the full length of the ducting. No build-up or obstruction of any type. Also - ducting is not vinyl or plastic. Any other suggestions?
We called Sears service to come out and service the dryer. They gave us an option when we called to purchase a one year warranty coverage for $200 that would cover the service call and anything that needed repair for the next year. The service call was $65 plus whatever parts were required for the service. We agreed to the one year warranty plan. When the Sears repairman came out, they said it was the sensors that are located just inside the dryer door behind the lint screen that needed cleaning. If you poke your head inside the door and look down you will see the 2 sensors. They can be cleaned with a cotton ball and a little alcohol. The repairman also used some very fine sandpaper to clean the surface. Very easy fix, and no need for a repairman or purchasing an extended warranty. The dryer works fine now.
