It sounds like you have a motor coupling that is broken. There are videos on YouTube to show you how to repair this. Search for "motor coupling repair on direct drive".
Sounds like the lid switch has failed. This switch will not allow the drum to spin if it senses that the door is not locked. Have it replaced and that should take care of the problem. Hope this helps. Good luck.
The electric motor my have failed or a part called a capacitor could be the problem?
The capacitor is part of the starting circuit of the electric motor, if this fails the motor will not start therefore the washing machine won't spin or agitate.
genaral electric washing machine fills won,t spin but throws out water as if it did, goes to next cycle same thing, but sounds as if it is spinning but isn,t, hose not clocgged i checked, what else can be the problem,sounds ok but not spinning
