Freezer section working okay but fridge not getting cold. Have defrosted it all. Frdige fan works okay and temperature display working okay but no power to the fan. Any ideas what needs replacing?
We have just had to call out an engineer to get our 1 1/2 year old Hotpoint Graphite Frost Free Fridge Freezer repaired. The fridge had almost entitely stopped cooling even when on high. I was amazed at how easily the problem was sorted. The engineer removed all the basktes from the freezer to access the screws on the inside backpanel of the freezer. Once this panel was removed it was clear that the so called Frost Free doesn't really mean what it says. The ice need to be melted with a bit of simple care. It is obvious that with a bit of care it is easliy a diy job BUT PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND READ THE NEXT PART BEFORE YOU BEGIN TO REMOVE THE ICE> The ice forms around variouys pipes etc and he usecd a screwdriver to help release the ice quicker than waiting for it to defrost and he also used a simple hairdryer to help speed up the process. He had a ntowel and a basin to take care of the water. Next time I would have no problem doing this myself but I would need to leave it a little while to defrost and NOT USE A SCREWDRIVER as I am sure somehow I would puncture a pipe or the wall of the freezer itself and I am quite used to doing the odd bit of DIY. On a difficulkty scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being difficult I would rate the job as about a 3. Hope this helps anyone who reads this about £70.
Have you checked that the swich on top of the door is being activated ? if unit has been moved sometimes the boor hinge moves and the swich does not activate.open door and depress swich and listen for fan, if so; wedge some card in to reactivate.I have done this only two days later the red hi temp alarm came back and im back to square one???
As already noted the fridge depends on getting cold air from the freezer. If the freezer is OK but the fridge not cold, remove all freezer baskets and and the lower half of the back panel (two screws at bottom). Examine vent bottom right for ice - defrost with hairdryer and paper towels. Reassemble and should be good to go.
I have a Whirlpool model wbm46mw.The freezer is working fine but the fridge is not cold. Any suggestions
Defrost fridge freezer problem lies with freezer box remove screws with socket make sure the insulation is ok silver foil stuck to inside of box & seals are ok around freezer box & fan this unit seals the box with the fan & circulates cold air to above fridge via two channels make sure no blocking of drain hole at bottom of freezer inside set fridge to 2c & freezer to -25 after a few hours open fridge door keeping light switch pushed in check cold airflow from top of fridge
When the freezer section gets cold and reaches its required cooling temperature, after that the frost on freezer section starts defrosting and the cooling fan in the freezer section blows this cool air from freezer to fridge. But if the defrost cycle does not start then over ice will get collected on freezer ventilations and that will block the air passing section from freezer to fridge, so the freezer gets cool but fridge section does not cool.

Its defrost problem. Try manual defrost by unplugging the refrigerator from main power outlet for 24 hours then reconnect it and check, if the same problem is noticed again,. If yes then its defrost board problem. The defrost board located in the back of fridge section. You can get required parts from www.repairclinic.com or from online sears part site. ------------- Thank you.
