I have exactly the same problem. My unit is 2 years old and has suffered this same problem since the day I bought it.

Dryer does not dry clothes but seems to be hot inside when i open the door

Most of these guys get a bad blower wheel. The heat melts the hub causing it to spin free and airflow is reduced. This makes it take fifty forevers to dry a load of clothes. More Here

Dryer gets hot but takes along time to dry

Make sure the lint filter is clean. If it is make sure the hoses leading from the dryer to the outside are not clogged. It sounds like it is not getting prober airflow through the tub.

Takes forever to dry clothes new element still

Hello,
The problem is in the thermosta and not the element. The thermostat is bad and is cutting off the element before you are getting hot enough..

OR....

There is a problem with the vent being plugged... or the blower not working right...

My dryer will heat up, but it is not drying the clothes during the cycle. It takes 2 or 2.5 cycles to dry the load

if you have the top model lint filter take it out put your hand in and see if you have good air sucken,if not you have a clogg somewhere in the dryer hose or wall vent, most of the time it is the wall vent, if the hot wet air can't get out the cloths will take forever to dry-mike

Dryer gets hot but wont dry clothes

Do you know if the dryer vent is free of obstructions?Check outside where the dryer vents outside ,and see if the air is weak or flowing freely. If it is not clogged the air should be pretty strong from the vent outside. If it has blockage it will definitly take longer to dry your clothes.
