How do I clear all music & pictures from archos 404

Here is the easy way to delete music,video,etc from your player

Deleting Files,Pictures,Videos,Audio Books, etc. from MP3 Player

Hook up your mp3 player to your computer
Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer"
When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal
Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there.
Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on
"Open" and now your files/songs should be visible.
Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that
you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want,
release, right click and then click on "Delete"
Now your mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want.
BE CAREFUL AND DO NOT DELETE FILES NEEDED TO OPERATE YOUR MP3 PLAYER.

i have the archos 404 with a crack screen need to get it fix

have you tryed the reset its a little hole on the top next to the word archos. your data should be ok but it would be wise to back it up if you can.

Open it up and check for the loose HDD cable first

Dont use the USB to charge the 404. Use a wall charger that accepts USB. Wally world (Walmart) has one for 15 dollars that has 2 USB ports. It works for me. Also the docking station will charge the 404 in no time at all. It's 80 dollars. Make sure you get the generation 4 unit
