Hey, I had the same thing with mine.

First, try cleaning out your filter if you haven't already. It gets angry if it can't get any air.

If not, I don't know how brave you are, but I ripped mine apart to fix the problem. I took off the panel with the filter (5 screws) and you can see a collection tray with another little collection gutter under that. Both of mine were filled with junk, mostly dust that had gotten wet to make this awesome disgusting sludge. If you can get at it from there, try to clean the sludge out of the collection tray and the little gutter. I ended up taking my whole unit apart so I can get the collection tray out (dumb design, you have to take apart the whole dang casing to get at two screws that hold the collection tray in).

Good luck!

My dehumidifier does not seem to be working properly. I can't find the manual to tell me what the settings should be. Would appreciate your help. It is a DeLonghi DE400P. Thanks Shirley

What is the specific problem? Is no water being collected by the dehumidifier or do you have another issue?

Make sure that the dehumidifier is in a room in the operating temperature range (at or above 44 degrees F). Make sure that the room door and windows are closed and that the room is not larger than 2200 square feet. Make sure that the collection bucket not full and is properly seated in the dehumidifier. Check and clean the air filter on the dehumidifier. (Vacuum the filter or rinse under running water three times. Then wait until dry to replace it in the dehumidifier.) Look at the coils of the dehumidifier. If you have ice on the coils, defrost the unit (turn off, unplug and wait for it to melt). If the ice reforms quickly, you may have a leak in the coolant system. Then the unit needs repair.

Next make sure that you have good air flow around the dehumidifier and that the desired humidity set point is lower than the humidity of the room.

Retrevo has the manual available: http://www.retrevo.com/support/Delonghi-DE400P-Heating-Cooling-and-Air-manual/id/19269bh037/t/2/ . You will need to enter a code to download the PDF.

I hope this helps.

DEM 10 Delonghi Dehumidifier has Stopped collecting water but still seams to be working

Hi,

First, make sure the humidistat isn't set too high by adjusting it to the lowest humidity setting and running it again. Next, test the dehumidifier by placing it in a closed bathroom with a hot shower running. If you don't see water collecting in the unit after several minutes, turn the unit off and clean all dehumidifier filters and coils. If, after adjusting the settings and cleaning the unit, you still don't see water collecting, you may have a refrigeration issue. This situation will have to be addressed by a qualified technician.

Take care.

What setting should I set my dehumidifier for % humidity when the room temperature is 68

THE LOWER THE % SETTING, THE MORE MOISTURE THE DEHUMIDIFIER WILL REMOVE!!!
I have a Provic dehumidifier mainly to remove damp from walls in my 1900s terraced house ( 3rd DPC failed, another on its way). I've read a lot about the technical side and all I wanted to know was 'do i set it on the highest or lowest % to extract moisture from the walls'. I rang the Managing Director at Provic (his contact details are given on their website) who was very helpful. He advised that the lower the setting, the more damp would be removed from the walls and therefore the air, as the water passes from the wall into the air. My DH ranges from 40% to 70% so he advised me to set it at 40% in the worst affected room to remove as much moisture as possible from the walls. As the moisture is removed, the DH will collect less water and set itself to the correct level anyway. He advised me that when as much water as possible has been removed from this room and the DH % will not drop any lower, to move it to a more central position in the house, such as the hallway to then start setting the rest of the house to the correct humidity level. I set the DH to 40% and left it on overnight closing all doors to the affected room and removing containers of water such as a vase of flowers. When I got up in the morning it had switched itself off as it had already collected 3 litres of water! You do have to be careful not to over dry the air as everything, furniture and electricals, naturally needs moisture, but for a short term, quick drying solution, this level is ok.
Hope this helps!

My challenge dehumidifier runs ok but does not collect any water , whats the problem?

low outside temp means low inside humidity

If the room temperature is close to 60, the coils may be frozen (completely encased in ice). If this is the case, move it where the water can drain off - about 1 gallon which may NOT run into the drain bucket.
I out mine over the floor drain.
Turn off and it will defrost over night.
Only specially made dehumidifiers work below a room temp of 60 degrees (the temp of a basement in winter).
Does it need to be running? A digital humidity sensor from Radio Shack is cheap and may tell you the humidity is OK - only 50% or less.
