I see that you also own a esc dvd-690 player. I have one too. Unfortunately I have misplaced my manual, and I need to know how to use the USB port on the player. I tried sticking in my thumb drive, but it wouldn't read it. Do you know if theres something special about the USB, that you need to know before using it?

It may or may not work. There's no way to program it unless it's a universal remote, and even then you'd need to find the codes. I'd put some batteries in and hit power... if it works it works. Universal remotes aren't expensive though. Pick one up if the old Sony won't work.

Can I suggest maybe instead of trying to program your universal remote control, maybe a better solution is trying to buy the original replacement remote control for your Cyberhome DVD Player. I've been down this road before and eventually you'll be faced with not being able to find the solution and not left many other options. I went to http://www.everytvremote.com to buy a cheap replacement remote for my tv and got it within a week and didn't have to worry about programming the universal remote ever again!
