You need to install the audio driver.
You can download the audio and device drivers from the Compaq/HP WEBsupport/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the Windowsdrivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download thedrivers: -

@after i reformat into windows vista basic home, i encounter no sound problem, it appears no audio output device is installed how i can solve it?

Hi, try the following check to see if there is a problem with your device. If you have already done this come back to me!
Go to start, control panel, system, hardware, then device manager; if there is a problem your audio device will be highlighted with a yellow ?.
For the latest driver, go to the following link:

HP 6000 no audio output installed

You could try to roll back the driver on the Audio Card. Or go to the HP website and download the driver again and reinstall?
Last thing you could try is uninstalling the update itself.

No sound

Hi,

I am Satya.
The problem can be solved in the following ways for Windows users:
1.i.We need to click on Start Button.
ii.Next we need to click on Control Panel from the start menu.
iii. From the control panel window we need to click on "Sound & Audio devices" icon.
iv.From the Sound & Audio devices properties window we need to uncheck the Mute checkbox.
I hope this will solve the problem.
If it doesn't try this:
2.i.We need to right click on My computer Icon from the start menu.
ii.From the menu we need to click on properties. From the system properties window we need to click on Hardware Tab.
iii.Next we need to click on Device Manager button.
iv.From the device manager window select "sound, video & game controllers".
v.Right click on it and from the new menu click "scan for hardware changes".

Now proceed to play any audio file.If you get an audio output then the problem is solved.
In case you don't get an audio output click on the + sign next to "sound, video & game controllers" select "legacy audio drivers" and from the Action menu in Device Manager window click on "update driver"
Follow the steps as mentioned in the update driver wizard,by downloading the driver from the internet.Click on Next.
After completing the driver installation.
check with the audio output.
If this solves the problem then you are done.
If this doesn't try installing the Audio driver from the Driver CD that you had received when you purchased your notebook.
Hope this has helped to solve your problem.

Thank You & have a nice day!
