Check the batteries: Make sure the batteries in the remote are properly inserted and have enough charge. If the batteries are low, replace them with new ones.
Clean the remote: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the remote and remove any dirt or debris that may be interfering with the signal.
Reset the remote: Sometimes resetting the remote can help. Remove the batteries from the remote, press and hold any button for 15 seconds, then replace the batteries and try again.
Try a universal remote: If the above steps do not work, you can try using a universal remote to control your TV.
If the issue persists and the TV does not respond to any remote, it is possible that the remote sensor on the TV is defective
“remote does not operate volume, have to increase decrease manually,” (1)Open remote cover.(2)Clean remote PCB and volume buttons with dry cloth. (3)add some sliver paint on black colour volume buttons. (4)wait for paint to dry (5)remote can be used again.
Does it turn the TV on and OFF? If yes, is it only some of the buttons that won't work or all of them? You said the batteries are good, but are the contacts on the remote where the batteries are seated clean and not showing signs of corrosion?
If it is a touchpad issue, open up the remote and inspect the rubber oad and the circuit board for foreign deposit. If so, use alcohol and clean and dry with a soft cloth or Q tip.
Hope this helps.
Same thing happened to me... Was ready to purchase a new remote and decided to take remote apart first and see if it could be fixed: In battery compartment, remove small screw. With small flat precision screw driver separate the black from grey part of remote starting with the larger side of remote (do not force open anything!). Then do the same from the other side of the remote, moving slowly (without forcing) towards the middle of the remote, prying open both sides of the remote delicately. Finally, from battery side, push down on battery springs which should allow you to take remote apart completely. Remove small black rubber washer holding motherboard, allowing removal of motherboard completely.
With a dry cloth gently wipe motherboard down. Clean the rest of the remote (NOT motherboard) with warm water and soap. (After a few years, inside remote accumulates sweat and dirt ! Use paper towel to dry inside part of remote first as best as possible. Finish by blow drying thoroughly every part that was washed with soap and water. Wipe down again the motherboard removing all type of humidity and possible greasy layer that may have accumulated through the years. Put remote back together by snapping every part back in place (much easier than taking apart). Don't forget to insert black square part, black rubber washer and little screw in battery compartment. Once this is done, make sure bottom black switch of remote is pushed to desired position (TV for me). Your remote should work properly, on/off button should also work properly. Don't forget TV has 2 setting for On/off switch, one normal the other something like "power saving" which requires user to press on/off button for a few seconds. This definitely worked for me, hope this works for you :)
someone spilled somehing on the remote ... remove the battry cover and batteries. remove the two screws in the battery compartment and pry the top away from the bottom so as to open the remote.lift the rubber button pad away from the parts board and rinse in water. DO NOT SCRUB the small black buttons on the back of the pad... or the parts board... GENTLY rinse and wipe away any sticky goo though.
let dry completely ... paper towels work better than terry cloth.. if you want to pat it dry. reassemble and it should be as good as new.
place the remote in a ziplock bag when the kids come to play...
It would help to know the model number of your LG TV. However, you can try the generic codes for LG which I've listed here:
Rev 8 remote: 1293, 1206, 0206, 0065, 0904 Rev 6 remote: 0065, 0742, 0502, 0672, 0634, 0136, Rev 4 remote: Same as Rev 6 RC1600/00 remote: codes not available and unlikely to work with your TV
** Your Sky remote version can be found on a sticker inside the battery compartment. **
Try these codes but if they don't work, please post back with your TV model number. It's possible that your remote does not have a code which will work with your TV, in which case, you will need to use the remote supplied with your TV to control volume and power functions. Unfortunately, when a TV is newer than the remote and uses a new flash pattern not programmed into that remote, the remote wont work. However manufacturers often keep the same flash patterns for common functions, so the generic codes might work for you.
I'm informed that a new Sky remote version is due but I've not been able to confirm this yet.
Hope this helps - please post back if you need further assistance.
Remove carefully the remote and cclean the pads with a dry soft cloth. any moisture logged within will reduce insulation for wrong action.repeat this and then try to set the codes or try the auto scan mode.
Well it seems that you need a new remote for your TV, but first i suggest you to try cleaning your old remote. Please follow the below steps - 1. Take a screw driver (depends on your remote) and carefully remove the screws and keep it safe. 2. Remove the back cover with care and separate the key panel and the remote board(the circuit board) 3. Now place the circuit board above a paper and clear it with a soft dry cloth. 4. Take few drops of kerosene or any mild detergent on a damp cloth and gently wipe on the circuit board, you can see a blackish settlement on the cloth after you wipe it. its the dirt. Blow it manually or use a blower. 5. leave it aside for a minute. Then with a another dry soft cloth make a final wipe and ur remote is clean. 6. Now you have to properly place back the key panel and the circuit, after that close the back cover with care and re screw it. If further you have the same problem then it's sure that you need a new remote for your TV.
