I assume the water heater and water inside it is cold (otherwise you would not be lighting it). You light the pilot. The main burner comes on and the pilot lights it. The main burner should stay on until the tank is hot, When the tank gets hot the main burner should shut off but the pilot stay on. If you draw hot water, cold water will run in and cool the tank. If yu do nothing the tank will eventually just cools off. then the main burner should come back on to reheat the tank.
The problem lies with the grill's regulator and how the gas tank valve was opened.
To solve this problem, first be sure you have adequate gas in the tank. If that checks out OK, do the following:
1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank.
2. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank.
3. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow).
4. Once the tank valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and set the burner
control knob on HIGH. Does the flame height look correct for being set on HIGH? If so, light
the remaining burners the same way. Do all the burner flames look correct? If so, you solved
the problem. Remember, to always open the tank valve Very, Very Slowly.
If that didn't solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's
Hose/Regulator Assembly. It runs about $30.00 at any home center or
hardware store that sells grills & accessories. If you replace it,
turn the tank valve ON Very, Very Slowly.

Are you saying the ignitor won't light the burner(s), but you can hear gas going thru the burners? If that's the case, try match lighting the burners. That's a good way to find out if you are really getting enough gas for combustion.
If after match lighting it, you find that burner flames remain low, even when they're turned to High. Here's what you need to do:
1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF. 2. Disconnect the hose from the tank and wait 5 minutes. 3. Reconnect the hose to the tank and open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow Motion, slow). 4. Once the tank valve is fully open, try lighting the burner farthest away from the tank first and turn it to High. Did the burner light and the flame height looks normal? If so, light the remaining burner(s) the same way. Do all the flame heights look normal? If so, you solved the problem.
Remember to always turn the tank valve ON Very, Very Slowly.

If you're using a 20 Lb Propane grill tank, here's what you need to do.
1. Turn the tank valve OFF.
2. Disconnect the hose from the tank and wait 5 minutes.
3. Reconnect the hose to the tank and open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow).
4. Once the valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn it to HIGH. Did the burner light and the flame looks normal? If so, light the remaining burners the same way. Did all the burners light and all the flame heights look normal? If so, you solve the problem.
Always remember to turn the tank valve on very, very slowly. If that did not solve the problem, remove and clean all the burners and each burner's venturi valve. Spiders love to build nest in them. iIf cleaning the burners and venturi valvesdidn't solve the problem, you will need to replace the Grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly. You can get one at any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills and accessories for about $30.00. Take your old one with you for comparison purposes.

Victor, are you sure you're getting gas to the burners after installing the new tank? You can try match lighting them to make sure. But, I suspect, that it's the installation of the new tank, that's causing the problem.
To test my theory, tune the tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank. Ope the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow). Once the valve is fully open, try lighting the burner that's farthest from the tank first and turn it to high. Did the burner light and does the flame height look correct? If so, light the remaining 3 main burners the same way. Did those burners light and the flame heights looks correct? If, so you solved the problem. Remember to always turn the tank valve ON VERY, VERY SLOWLY.

Replace the regulator to get your burners to work you can get that at Home Depot, call Weber to get the other part, if your grill is under warranty you may get it Free!
sounds like you have debris in the gas regulator,remove the tank and look into hose end to see lf its clear.sometimes just tapping lightly on the reg,will release the debris.u may need to replace hose and regulator to burner assymbly.if this doesnt fix it.
How are you turning the grill on and off? It sounds like a vapor-lock. Try this: first unhook the regulator and crack the valve on the tank open...if you hear and smell gas coming out, good, close the valve and re-connect the regulator then open the gas valve then turn the burner on and light it...then shut it off by closing the tank valve first and let the burners go out then turn off your burner valves...try that and let me know what happens.
