Sansa E250 (only blue ring lighting)

Hi! Initially the player was in "update database...". In recovery mode I connected to the computer and copied on player disk 6 files from archive SansaE200A1_03_07.7z:
-firmware.mi4
-Font.fnt
-header.txt
-mfgSupport.rom
-pribootLoader.rom
-SDBootRom.rom
After that - only blue ring lighting when I'm pressing power on.

I can not turn the player on or put the player into the recovery mode.
So, I can not get any connection to the computer.
    Anyway, thans for trying ;-)

P.S. I've solved this problem in next way:
-connected in manufacturing mode (holding the middle button while connecting to the computer)
    -install apropriate drivers
-with using e200tool I rewrote the rom, after that player came into the recovery mode - after that formating and upgrading and everything is well.

Go ahead and do this, in case the DB is corrupted:
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

Just the blue ring, screen does not turn on

Hello,

Blue ring faillure could be solved, trying to reset the e250.
How to reset:
1. Press and hold the Power/Menu button for approximately 20 seconds.
2. Release the Power/Menu button.
3. Press the Power/Menu button again to turn on the player.

Only if the reset action above did not help,
reload and update to the latest firmware.

Installing firmware will erase all data from the player !

  • Step 1: Switch to MSC mode.

How to switch to MSC mode:
1. Turn device OFF.
2. Slide the hold switch to the direction of the headphone jack so an orange color would show putting the device on Hold.
3. Press and hold the ( |<< ) button while connecting the device to the PC.

  • Step 2: Update to the latest firmware.

See next site for how to update the firmware:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/306
Follow the information in the link.

The easiest way would be using the automatic Sansa Firmware Updater. Directly to the download Sansa Firmware Updater .

The refresh database froze.

This has happened to me a dozen times since I've owned mine. It's a piece of junk. But to fix it, you'll have to reformat it from 'recovery mode'. Here's a repost of a solution that worked for me:
  1. Open My Computer.
  2. Switch Sansa to Hold (top switch toward headphone jack).
  3. Hold record button and connect to computer thru USB cable.
  4. The player should say Recovery Mode and USB connected.
  5. In My Computer you should see 16MB FORMAT J: (or another drive letter)
  6. Double click the drive
  7. Drop down the file menu and create a new folder
  8. Name that folder: sansa.fmt
  9. Disconnect the USB (either end) and Sansa will format and reset system.

I turn on my sansa e250 it goes to refresh database, then blanks

There are two connection settings in USB: MTP and MSC. For some reason MTP is the default, but it doesn't connect properly on all computers. Select MSC and plug the player in again, the computer will recognize sansa e250 but not show the driver just yet. It is installing recognition software (just basic drivers - nothing heavy) and it doesnt tell you what its doing until its complete. WAIT FOR IT. Once it is complete you will see both the sansa e250 and the removable memory slot in your "my computer" now you're good to go.

"Refresh Database" never ends!

If you try to load too many songs onto the player initially, it may take up to an hour to get past Refresh database. Unfortunately, if you shut the player off while it is refreshing, it will more than likely ruin your player. Run the Sansa Recovery Tool or Update the Firmware on your Player as a workaround. Make sure the hold/lock switch isn't activated, just as a safeguard.
