Acer 5532 Touch Pad Not Working

Here are a couple of ideas from a Google Search:

Press the key to the left of the On/Off button. The key has a picture of a finger pressing the touchpad. So simple, so elegant, so little information out there about it.

My touchpad is working only as a mouse, the tapping is not working..why is that ? I have an aspire 3680 mouse work and the 2 click buttons too only tapping is not working. I have check all drivers and they...

1. Go to control panel
2. open mouse options
3. click the device settings tab and you should see your touch pad as one of the devices.
4. Make sure your touch pad is highlighted and click the settings button
5. one of the options is tapping, and you can enable it here

That should get your mouse to click on touch pad taps.

Good Luck!

Once a mouse was attached the Acer Aspire 5532 touch-pad no longer works. When the mouse is disconnected the touch-pad still will not work. I do not see a toggle button to use to toggle between the mouse...

HI Diane,

Since you haven't provided the Windows Operating System version (XP/Vista/7 or other?), I'll have to provide the general scope of what you should try.

1. Go to the Control Panel and open up your Mouse section
2. Look through the different tabs until you find an option to either "Enable" your touchpad, or one that says the equivalent of "Disable Touchpad when external mouse or device is connected"

The idea is to accomplish your aim by working with the mouse settings provided for your system. Good luck and go easy on the "blue thumb". Please provide more specific information before a negative response.

Thanks

My touch pad stopped working on my brand new Acer Aspire laptop model 5532. I have tried turning it on and off and it only works with a mouse. Any solutions?

“Hi,
I. “To “Enable” the Pointer Device using the Touch-Pad, go to, Control Panel, click (“Mouse) in the “Hardware and Sound” category; go to, “Device Settings” in the (Devices) block.
II. “Highlight”; the item you want to (enable) this being the “Pointer Device.” Click the (Enable) button, just below. Be sure to (Click) on the “Apply” button, and click OK.
III. You may need to “Update Drivers2_bing.gif?” Click on “Hardware, click “Properties,” click, on Driver.” If the, Update Driver (block) is not “Grayed-out” click “Update Driver2_bing.gif”, click (OK), this will ensure that the application take effect.
Note: Restarting the computer will configure system changes in the computer applications to prevent errors, and to finalize the (Installing / Uninstalling) of programs, and or (Enabling / Disabling) of Hardware.
If the solution helped, rating it is appreciated, thanks

Touchpad on my acer 5532 is too sensitive. how do i lock it?

I am assuming that you are talking about the tap feature. If that is the case go into control panel , then mouse or synaptics pad properties and look for the option to disable the tap feature. You may also be able to find the icon on the start bar next to the clock, if there right click and select properties. Good luck let me know how you make out. Thank you.

Mouse touch-pad

Click Start > Control Panel > Mouse > Device Settings (tab) > Settings (right hand side, immediately under the white box with your touch pad device listed)

Select "Tapping" on the left and make sure it is enabled.
If tapping was enabled, go to "Sensitivity" on the left and adjust the touch settings.
