Satellite Receiver to Yamaha Receiver

I have a Dish Network vip 612 and I am trying to connect it through an hdmi cable to a Yamaha RX-V465 Receiver. The picture on the tv just flashes I'll have picture and sound for 1 second then it will go black for 2 seconds then repeat. I know the cable isn't bad because it works with my PS3 and if I connect directly to the tv it works fine. Any ideas?

My VP 612 will not give a signal to the 2nd TV. We had a have a VIP 211 and it works fine.

Hi there Rick, my name is Kimberly and I form part of the Social Media Department with DISH. It is my pleasure to help you. A VIP 612 is a single receiver, meaning it can only control one tv independently, if you do have a second Tv connected it is mirrored correct? (meaning it watches/shares the same programming as the main TV connected directly to the receiver) If so, the TV connected with RG6 cable must be on channel 3 in order to receive a picture. Feel free to reach me at: [email protected] if you have any additional questions or concerns.

My dish network receiver vip 612 push to open door won't stay closed?

Hi, Mary with Dish Network Customer Service. I am sorry you are having a problem with the door on your 612 receiver box. The only to resolve this is to exchange out the receiver box for a cosmetic issue. They will send a new receiver and you can return that one. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Satellite Receiver to Yamaha Receiver

It sounds like either on the 612 or the Yamaha Receiver that the HDMI port is faulty, thus causing the flashing picture. It sounds like the 612 to the TV works fine. I would recommend replacing the Yamaha, and if problem persists then try replacing the 612.

Best way to hook up TV with one HDMI to blue ray DVD and RX-V465 receiver with Direct tv

Has Direct tv STB HDMI output?
Best is to connect all your sources (BD, DVD, STB, PS3) to yamaha receiver and connect yamaha hdmi-out to TV's HDMI-in.

I would like to hook up my components without having to turn on the receiver to watch tv from DVR or Cable if possible. I have Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 HD Cable DVR w/HDMI out, Samsung TV w/HDMI ,...

You should not lose any picture quality from the DVD player. I am currently having the similar setup with PS3 as the Blu-ray DVD player with HDMI and a Samsung DVD as regular player with component cable to a Samsung LCD TV. Remember the quality on Blu-ray is better than normal DVD so don't expect more than what it is.

I need to use my TV as the speakers for my system..what is the setting on the Yamaha RX-V465 to do this?

For what do you need receiver if you don't want to use its speakers?
As far as I know this is only possible for HDMI connections (when you have your DVD player connected to HDMI-in of receiver, and HDMI-out to the TV). Go to Setup menu / Func. setup / HDMI / Audio. You can choose there if audio from HDMI should be output on receiver's speakers, or TV speakers, or both.

Intermittant Audio with Yamaha RX-V465 only from cable box

I have the same receiver... You can try pressing the Option button and choosing Signal Info to see what audio signal the receiver sees and if that changes over time. Maybe the cable box is not outputting according to specifications... TV can live with that, but receiver maybe can't.
You can also try to connect the cable box via SPDIF cable (optical or coax) to see if it helps or not.
