How to remove the agitator & the basket on a kenmore elite oasis

F54 is a Motor Control Overcurrent.
1) check to see if there is anything between basket and agitator this can cause this error.
2)move the basket .. should move freely
if all is clear then most likely you will need a new motor

First, OL/UL stands for "Overload", so in other words, the washer things the tub is too hard to move because it's overloaded and the motor is struggling or the unit is way out of balance causing the washer to struggle. The most common problem is a nut below the inner tub that needs to "float". Floating is when the tub fills up with water to a certain level the inner basket will rise about 1 inch from the center agitator. What this does is disengage the basket from the motor so that the agitator can rotate independently from the basket. If the basket does not float then when it tries to agitate the whole basket will turn back and forth at the same speed as the agitator and this will cause the OL/UL error code.

We have issues with that to. Don't know what it is but it sounds like change. Don't know how to get in there.

See the following Whirlpool Service Manual for their Cabrio washer. The Sears / Kenmore Oasis is basically the same machine so the procedures for pulling the basket should be the same.

if it is up under the agitator just remove the agitator,,,,pop the cap off with a screwdriver then remove the 7/16 bolt and lift out whole assy!

check if basket turns freely. if it does replace the main board

remove cap at top of cone unscrew

The F54 fault code indicates that the control board senses high motor current.
This can be caused by excessive friction in the spin basket.
With the washer off, open the lid and see if the basket spins freely.
If not, you may need to remove the basket and check for an item stuck between the spin basket and the outer washer tub.
The second and third images show procedures for removing the basket on the Oasis washer depending on whether you have an impeller or agitator in your model.
If the basket spins okay, then you can follow the technical troubleshooting described in the first image.
