There are various methods for scrolling upand down page. 1 If you are using a optical mouse just roll the center wheel gradually in the forward and reverse direction to move the page up and down. 2 Just tab lightly the cursor on the displayed page and then use the up and down keys (already marked with arrows) on the keyboard to scroll up and down. 3 You can use the bar on the right side of your computer screen. Take the cursor on top of the arrow mark at the top to scroll up and for scrolling down place it on the bottom arrow. Tap it gently and the page will move up and down with every click/tap. 4 You can place the cursor on the blue bar on the right side. Keep the left touch pad button pressed the and move the cursor up and down with the help of main touch pad. touch pad

I have just aquired a dell inspiron 8500 with no hard drive in it...where should the hdd be located....sound stupid but hey....

Hello tanglefoot,

No worries; the hard drive is located under the laptop. Turn the computer over. Use a standard #1 Phillips screwdriver to remove the M3 x 3-mm screw.

Unscrew it and slide down the hard disk.

Here is where you can download the instruction with illustration. You should be looking at page 27 of 77.

Dell Inspiron 8600 now missing the battery meter

Click here and click the link to download all on the upper right hand side of the page. Instruction are embedded in the page and the download themselves for each individual download, including what they do and so on...... Unzip and installation of all these is highly recommended to restore your system back to factory functionality......i assure you that the battery meter shortcut is not the only function missing from your system.....you just haven't found the rest yet, and may never need them for that matter, but still i do recommend installing all the downloads that are available for your device, and don't worry, if there is anything that needs to be overwritten during installation, let if overwrite...you'll be just fine..... so there ya go, sry i cant walk you through the whole process but there wouldn't be enough room for me to spell it all out on here.

GOOD LUCK AND PLS RATE THIS POST!! :D

Can't connect to internet after reinstalling window-inspiron 8600

Use a computer that is connected to the Internet, then download and copy the drivers on to a CD or USB menory stick and install them on your computer.

You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop. This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model laptop are located. Also make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on this link :- http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen

Volume buttons and mute/unmute buttons don't work

First open the Control Panel -> Keyboard Layout. Look for the dropdown list for different keyboard models. Scroll to the Dell models and try e.g. the Dell Mulimedia USB Keyboard layout. Stop the GUI with Ctl+Alt+Return, login again and maybe your multimedia buttons will work now.
and for more info contact http://tinyurl.com/m7ghqz
If there is no keyboard layout that fits your needs, you may download the programs keytouch and keytouch editor, which are very helpful creating your own layout.
