This can mean only one of two possible things. Either the [Tab] key on your computer is stuck, or your system needs to be serviced.

EC/KBC Damaged! (Call your Serviceman.) Serviceman: place maintenance disk in drive. PORTEGE 3440CT

This is a keyboard error. Try pressing all the keys (make sure none are stuck). If this doesn't help you may need to try removing and reinstalling the keyboard (make sure the cable is inserted correctly) or you may need to replace your keyboard.

My system stop when i come repair it show blank screen and write KBC error what is that KBC error?. And it has no cd drive thank you

A KBC error is an indication of a compatability issue. An input device, could be mouse or keyboard is having trouble talking with the system. Check to see if your system has a BIOS update. If possible, disconnect/remove the keybaord and/or mouse and replace with an external usb device and see if your problem still persists. Good luck. -Carlos:

How will I go to the bios and fix the EC/KBC update diskette problem?

Hold the "Esc"key when you power on the laptop until you get the BIOS setup screen coming up.

But I don't think you can fix the Ec/KEB problem by change any thing in BIOS or you just want find USB drive and make it boot-able from BIOs?

EC/KBC Damaged

This can mean only one of two possible things. Either the [Tab] key on your computer is stuck, or your system needs to be serviced

First, turn the computer off. If the cause is a stuck [Tab] key, you may be able to un-stick it by tapping the [Tab] key several times. Turn the computer back on. If you don't see the error, congratulations, you fixed a stuck [Tab] key. If you do see the error message, you should contact a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider and have the system serviced
