The nikon d80 you pointed out is a solid good camera. Id suggest buying it, if you are sure your lenses fit, didnt bother to check But I know Nikon is the way to go!

    quote from the review

Having now thoroughly tested a production sample of the Nikon D80, all our initial impressions have been confirmed, and we can give it our wholehearted endorsement. By any measure, the Nikon D80 is a superb photographic tool, offering value well beyond its relatively modest price point.

In order to know whether the mount on the lens will work correctly with the camera body, you need to provide the model of the lens, not just the serial number.

Many manufacturers (Vivitar included) make lenses that will mount SLR cameras. Sigma, Nikkor (Nikon), Quantaray, Vivitar all make lenses that will mount Nikon bodies. Nikon-mountable lenses will also mount Fuji bodies. Please indicate model number of lenses.

Chances are, however, they will NOT mount to the SLR bodies you have chosen. You can take your lenses to Ritz or Wolf Camera (any camera shop for that matter) and see which will work. What you are really looking for is whether the camera will be able to use features such as auto-focus and aperture from the body (if the lens doesn't have an aperture ring).

What adapter do I need for a Sigma AF 75-300 lens on a Canon Rebel XTi SLR?

Question edited for clarity.

You get the Sigma lens for the camera in Canon fit.

https://www.google.com/search?q=sigma+lens+af+75-300+for+canon+rebel+xti

Can you use Sigma lenses on Canon cameras?
Since Sigma lenses are made to be fully compatible with Canon cameras, they are backwards-compatible. This means that you can use a Sigma lens on a Canon DSLR camera. Similarly, the Sigma cameras are backwards-compatible with Canon lenses. Macro adapter loses the AF feature.

Vivitar screw mount lens, Nikon D-80 camera. Is there an adapter for this?

The M42 mount was used by several camera manufacturers, most notably Pentax. Nikon is not one of them.
Vivitar made many lenses with a T-mount. This consists of a screw mount on the lens and a suitable adapter, depending on the camera body. This allows a lens to be used with different cameras simply by changing the adapter.
If your lenses are T-mount, then yes, there are adapters available. One source is here.
Be aware that you'll probably lose any metering capability when using any lens with this adapter. You'll have to use a separate light meter or else view the resulting picture on the display and adjust the exposure appropriately.

I have been given a vivitar 70-210 series 1 lens 1:3.5 with a Canon AE1 would the lens work with a DSLR Nikon D3100 - would I need to buy an adaptor ?

No, and no.

The lens will not work on a Nikon camera.

Nikon cameras are deeper than Canon cameras. Even if a Canon lens fit onto a Nikon body, it would not focus at infinity. In order to enable a Canon lens to focus at infinity on a Nikon body, a lens adapter would have to have a negative thickness.

Can CF card pin be repaired on a Canon Rebel? Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi Digital Camera with 17-85mm Lens

I assume you mean one of the pins inside the camera body itself? This is quite a common problem and I believe it will have to be dealt with by a Canon Repair Centre. However it is not the end of the camera and is worth having done although I cannot say what the are charging at this time.

I dropped my Canon EOS Rebel Xti in the canal while kayaking.

Water in the camera body could take up to a week to dry. If you tried turning it on while it was wet inside, you may have shorted out some circuits.

Matching 2 brands

Simga makes lenses to fit several different makes of camera bodies including Canon and Nikon. I'm assuming your Sigma lens has a Nikon mount, if so there are some adapters, but they may not work like you want - not all functions may work properly thru the adapter. For best results you should return or sell the lens and get one with the Canon mount.

Canon rebel xti focus issues

I think it might be a lens issue.
make sure you change the macro option. the macro must be activated if you are taking a picture of something which is close to the camera. if it's not activated, the picture will not be focused.
The same will happen if the item is far and the macro is ON.

Canon Rebel XTi/EOS 400D

I made the mistake of putting ahotshoe protector from my old camera on the new EOS 400D. It stopped the flash from popping up. I took it off and things now work.

Vivitar lens

Can you provide model on the Vivitar and the model of the Rebel? The serial number provided is not sufficient to find exact info on the lens mount. If you take a picture of the lens mount and upload it, it's better.

Best info I can give is this ...

The Canon Rebel is an EF mount and will accept also EF-S type lenses. Once you have the mount type of the lens, you can then locate a mount adapter that will allow you to attach it to the Canon.

For example. If the VIVITAR lens has a T-Mount, then you can get one here. Realize though that old lenses do not benefit from new camera features, so autofocus and other things may not work.

Let me know more info if you can ...

Hope this helps, if so, rate a FixYa! ThankYa!
