I have the same problem and I tried to slap it a couple times with the compartment closed. It didn't work for me. Anyone has the same issue??

  • freakofzoid Dec 04, 2008

heck yes! I hit mine all over the place, but the one that worked was taping the battery pack! thanks for the help.

camera automatically beeps when i try and load the tape but when the case is empty it will close

  • Anonymous Jan 21, 2009

I keep trying to fix it by tapping it, but its not working. Do you smack it with the cassette in or out?

  • thekidd23950 Feb 06, 2009

    I have the ZR200

LOLOLOLOL---HAHAHAHAHA . . . I REALLY can't believe that worked. I opened my well again, tried the tape, and it didn't work. I closed it, without the tape in it, and then spanked it on its bottom. Tried to put the tape in again, but it didn't work. So I closed it again, and this time, spanked it right on its face (The Grey Part, where it has the PLAY (VCR, OFF, CAMERA, and POWER written on it). I gave it three moderate whacks, with about 1 second in between hits, tried the tape again, and IT WORKED! I laughed at myself in the mirror, with my eyes wide open, enjoying the irony.

Thanks for the posts. It helped.

I haven't used my camera for nearly a year because of this frustrating problem!  I was just about ready to send it in to Canon when I read about simply slapping my camera ... after three goods slaps, it's working like a charm!!  Crazy I know, but hey, I'm using my camera again!

Reading other threads here the soloution that works, yes for real, slap it on the tape side (closed) a few times then try to reload the tape, if it doesn't work the first time, close it and try slaping a few more times. I had to do it a few times but it does work.

O.K. I want to apologize to everyone because I thought you were all nuts. This has happened to me before and putting it away for a year fixed it.It happened today and I was ready to throw it at the wall, so I figured why not try it. I turned it off without the tape in it and slapped it firmly three times. When I loaded the tape and turned it on it really worked. I had emailed Canon for a solution, I can't wait to tell them how I repaired there camera.THANKS ALL

I was having the same problem. I pull this camera out of the closet every Christmas. This Christmas Eve I could not get the cassette tape to load. Slapped it 5-6 times and now it loads! Thanks for the help!

I have a canon MV 830.Please could you tell me when i put the cassette into the camcorder it keeps beeping then asks me to eject the cassette. Is this expensive to fix?

My MV830 would load without a cassette; but freeze, beep 3 times and eject if a cassette was inserted. I read the following thread with a great deal of scepticism and concern that I would damage my MV830 camcorder even more; but what did I have to lose? I loaded the compartment without a cassette, hit it firmly 3 times on the tape loading side and the issue was gone. It now works perfectly! Technology is fantastic...

Canon ZR200 -- I can no longer get the camera to accept a tape.

it could have been forced at some time and has bent the loading door,,, maybe a bit of cassette broke off inside it and is jamming it up best bet is to drop it off at the repair shop let them fix it for you,,

Recording stopped working

Beleive the CCD has stopped responding. A cheap way to verify this is to point an infrared remote towards the lens and press a key. This will usually provoke a response from the camera even if all else fails, barring a bad pickup device...accordianman
