My blackberry froze up one night so I took the battery out thinking I could turn it back on once I put it back in. Now the battery is back in but I just have this red flashing light and the phone won't turn on. What do I do?

  • Anonymous Apr 05, 2008

All was fine when I turned it off last night; tried to power on this morning and NOTHING! It was never exposed to water. So I took the battery out and re-installed. NOTHING. Plugged into USB; red indicator light came on briefly, then went off again. Keeping it plugged in to USB, eventually a symbol appears showing that the battery is NOT charging.

This happened to me two days ago. It just won't charge. I plug in the charger, it "appears" to charge for a few seconds with the red light blinking, and then it completely shuts off. I've tried different chargers and outlets. What gives? I've never dropped it or exposed it to moisture and I've had it for about 8 months.

  • Anonymous Apr 18, 2008

My phone looked like it was charging at first, but still wouldn't charge! I tried different plugs but none worked. After i plugged it in the first time it didn't even show that it was "charging". I think it might be the battery, but I'm not quit sure.

  • swilkinson May 22, 2008

I left my phone sitting on my desk (it was working fine). When I came back an hour or so later, the screen was black and the red light was blinking (one slow, then four fast). I can't turn it on. I've taken out the battery. Tried charging it. Tried syncing it (I use PocketMac). Called T-Mobile, they said it's a software error and I have to re-load all of the software, which in the process will erase all my data. I'm bummed. :(

For no apparent reason the Blackberry Pearl 8100 I have (5 weeks old) stopped working. The only thing it does now is flash its red light at me 4 times in quick succession then repeats this exciting process. SIM card and battery have been removed, the phone charged and nothing. Interestingly this failure corresponds to Vodafone having a service fault - which is now sorted, but I am left with a useless phone.

My blackberry pearl has a red blinking light and won't turn on. I charged it but when it does turn on, it turns right back off again. The battery has a red slip on the side with x's if that means anything. When it turns on, the battery meter is yellow but it won't stay on. I put a new sim card in it that is different from the one that was in it before. Anyone can help?

I've had a BlackBerry Pearl 8100 for about, 2 months now and for some reason it wont turn on at all. All there is of life is a flashing red light. I've charged it for hours, and still... it won't turn on. I've switched batteries, sim cards, and that other smaller chip. Yet, it won't turn on. If anyone could give me a solution it would be greatly appriciated!

  • mandaluvsu Feb 21, 2009

I had the same problem & I looked here for help. I found the problem! It has to do with the themes, I had changed my theme to t-mobile zen, I think it the default theme & it has the my faves Icon displayed on the screen & the other icons at the bottom. Under the my faves icons it has the option to hide the icons...when my phone stayed on long enough for me to click on it I did & it said something like, my faves off. After that my phone began to restart itself again & stayed on...YAAAY!!! I immediately changed my theme. Well I hope this will help everyone else with this same problem! =D

I had this same problem yesterday. I found out that i had a completely dead battery. Your phone takes some of the battery's energy and holds it for when your phone dies. But even if your phone is off it wont hold the energy. What you need to do is have someone with energy in their phone to charge your battery and it should work just fine. Hope this helps. $T-money$

Mine (pearl 8100) wouldn't turn on after a battery pull... red light just blinked.. computer would intermittently recognize that it was connected (only when red light had blinked on)... this how I solved...

1. While BBerry connected to computer remove battery then SimCard.
2. Replace the battery then restart the device and wait until the device screen is displayed. (may say to replace SimCard on display screen)
3. Disconnect the device from your computer. (...after closing Desktop Manager if it is open)
4. Power down the device by holding the power button.
5. Remove the battery and replace the SimCard and the battery... then power up your device again.

Not sure why but the key seemed to be removing the SimCard, powering it up connected via the computer then powering down properly, replacing the SimCard then powering up again..

Worked for me anyway... Hope it helps!

The sim card may not be put in correctly, or it may need to be slid back or fourth a little bit. I had this same problem, but continued playing with my phone until I figured it out, now of course with a blackberry it took awhile to come back on, but no more irritating red light and black screen. Voila!

I have had the exact same problem. I opened up back-cover, and removed the battery. I noticed that one of the 'springs'-persay weren't up-to-par with the others! I pried it up to par, and put the battery back in. Turned the phone back on, and it restarted with a 100% full-battery.   Hope this helps?

Hello Everyone. I own a blackberry 8800, andi had the same reoblem with the RED flashing LED and the black screen. I tried the stunt with removing the SIM car, but no luck. Anyway, what i did, was replace the SIM into the slot, and I left out the battery for approximately 5 minues. I then rplaced the battery, and the phone worked. It is probablt a case where the operating system needed to reset, and it needed the batter out for a bit to completly do so.

Hope this helped.

I went to the blackberry site to figure it out. What you want to do is plug your phone into the USB cord and then to the computer. Go to the applications on the desktop manager and then update the software. It worked great for me :) Good luck!

Take the battery out and wait for 15min. then try again. If problem persists, try a firmware restore, a guide on how to do that is here: Blackberry Firmare restore. If that fails it looks like you need a new logic board which in theory you can replace yourself. Here's a guide on how to disassemble a blackberry. Maybe a tech savy friend can do it for you. If you want to have somebody else do it for you there are third party Blackberry Repair Services.

I had the hour glass and then a blank screen. My computer did recognize the Pearl so I downgraded the software to an older version and the screen worked. Then I updated the software and the phone appears to work OK now.

My Blackberry Pearl had a stale white screen and I was pretty sure it crashed. I took the battery out and put it back in right away a few times but kept getting a stale red light. I was about to throw it against the wall but I came on here and I took the battery out for a few minutes and put it back in. So if you have a problem, try that first.

Check your USB connection to see if all the pins are there. Mine turned out to be missing a pin - luckily, still under warranty, I am awaiting a replacement unit.

SOURCE: blackberry pearl won't turn on

There are no special ways of turning on the Blackberry.

Simply power on - it is fully charged - if this doesn't work, remove the battery for a couple of seconds and re-try power on.

My blackberry pearl 8100 need a sim subsidy unlock in order for me to used with my carrier how can i get it

1) Contact your service provider to obtain instructions and the SIM unlock code for your device.
2) Download one of the following files:-
a) sim ulock tool serial blackberry.zip
b) sim unlock tool usb blackberry.zip
3) Extract the file and save it to your personal computer.
4) Connect the device to the personal computer.
5) Double-click the downloaded file. If prompted, enter your device password.
The unlock tool runs, and the device resets when complete.
6) Proceed with the SIM unlock instructions from your service provider.

NOTE:-This happen's when you're trying to change the service provider.
If you intend to change your service provider, contact your current provider and inquire whether your BlackBerry device's SIM card is locked. If your BlackBerry device has a locked SIM card, you will need an unlock code. Some carriers charge a fee for this. Once the BlackBerry device is unlocked, it will accept a new SIM card and a new service provider.

New BB 8130 Pearl phn and new battery and its been charging

Remove the battery, then remove the Memory card and Sim card (if you have a sim card). Then replace battery. Try this. If this does not work, while off try connecting the device to your pc, through bb desktop software. If the device STILL does not turn on or your pc does not recognize it, you may have a hardware problem.
