How do i set up electric tyco train set- model 899v hobby transformer?

There are 2 wires from the transformer to the power rail screws on the track. Hook up the wires and watch the direction the engine moves when you move the lever to forward. If the engine moves in reverse, either swap the wires or turn the engine around on the track.

My 1941 Lionel train stops getting enough power to run all the way around the track. Voltmeter says 15 volts around all track and transformer says 15 volts. How do I test engine?

If your sure the loco contacts/wheels are clean and the track is ok then remove the loco bodywork and check the motor. You can apply a 12v supply directly to the motor contacts to test if it's running ok. If it does run ok then suspect and clean the brushes and associated connections. If it does not run try moving the motor armature manually. If it is stuck it is probably time to replace it. If it moves apply a light machine oil and test again.

I have a Lionel ZW transformer older version 1955-1956, And lately my train loses power at one area of the track and then regains power again. This happens on both the outside and inside tracks.

This does not appear to be a problem with the ZW. The XFMR does not know anything about train location on the track. It appears to be a track connection problem on the center or outside tracks or both. One way to identify a bad connection is to take a parallel wire from the common and hot terminal of the ZW and connect directly to the area of track where the train stops and slows down. If this cures the problem then I recommend checking the tightness of the three track connections. For both FasTrack and Tubular, crimp slightly the pin receiving holes in the end of the track.

Note: For both tubular and Fasrtrack it is recommended that common track power for any one section be input to the track at more than one point. In this way one bad outter or center conductor won't cause the train to slow up or stop.

If FasTrack, you can solder directly to the tabs on the track underside for a permanent connection.

The train set didn't come with directions and we can't get it to work. We have put batteries in it and now we are stuck! Can you help?

There is an on off switch on the side, also you have a selection switch on the same
side. Select either round track or straight track. Place the train on selected track, the
straight track with the arrows pointing in the direction of travel, then press the
Mickey symbol on the train body. Wipe the bottom of the train now and again to
make good contact.
Hope this helps and the little one has as much fun as my grandson.

Need help setting up Lionel North Pole Central Christmas Train 6-30068--how do I attach the transformer to the track? It is on O gauge track and is transformer that came with set. Our manual is lost and...

I had the same dilema and trains are not new to me. Look under the piece of straight track that has a notch in it for the wiring. There will be a clip to hold the wire and a piece of plactic that looks like a block. One either side of that is a metal tab that one end of the wiring slides over. Actually each piece of the Fastrack has one of these. Only one has a notch but you can notch any one.
