My lamp on my Mitsubishi WD65733 DLP TV actually blew up while I was watching it (kablooey). So, I bought a new lamp and replaced it. Now, the picture and sound comes on for about 30 seconds then it turns off and the red "lamp" LED on the front panel of the TV starts flashing. Do I need a ballast?
Since the time that I posted my original question, I opened up the lamp assembly and found a crack in the glass shell of the lamp. I am pretty sure that is what the problem is, so I will be taking it back to where I got it from. Also of note, the lamp that I got doesn't exactly fit into the slot that it is supposed to fit into in the lamp enclosure. So, I think the local TV repair shop installed the wrong lamp into the lamp enclosure.Since the time that I posted my original question, I opened up the lamp assembly and found a crack in the glass shell of the lamp. I think that the fuses and the circuit board and the power supply and the fuses are going bad inside of your TV and it is more convenient to purchase another TV than to try and repair your TV that is broken.
your model uses the Mitsubishi 915061010 Lamp assembly with housing which is available from www.tvrepairworld.com under the Mitsubishi DLP Lamp category. The lamp comes with installation instructions and is a simple plug in , It includes the housing so you dont need to remove the old bulb from your housing to reuse since the new lamp already has the housing with it.
Most likely just needs a new lamp.
the lamp is easy to replace , google for the lamp to buy one online.
a few screws hold the lamp door and lamp in place.

Following up on my Feb 7 post. My new lamp arrived, and I replaced it and it works great. The old lamp had many shards of glass come out of it. It was tore up. I saved some money buy purchasing just the lamp and not the cartridge. It's a little bit more work to take apart, but saves money. Mitsubishi wanted $289 for the lamp replacement kit. I got a lamp for $114. TV is working just fine now!
