Cord and plug where A/c unit is plugged into is getting ver warm and ice is forming on coils behind air filter after cleaning filter as recommended! how can i solve these issues?

when ice forms on an evaporator unit (coil) there is an indication of internal problems with the unit. IT may occur if there is insufficient air flow ( dirty or fan speed to low ) but when this happens the thermostat just orders more gas through the tx valve and so more ice is formed then the thermostat reads it as too cold and so cuts the gas flow back by controlling the operation of the tx valve
Water from a dehumidifier will depend on the atmosphere humidity so the lower the humidity reading the less water collected
However I suggest that you have a technician check it out as the compressor start/run capacitor may be faulty and that is why the compressor is not getting hot as it may not be running properly

If you haven't already, clean the filter after it has thawed. In addition, the coils behind the filter may need cleaning.

Turn the unit OFF & Unplug it. Remove the filter and the upper half of the front of the cabinet. Clean the cools with warm water and dish washing liquid. Rinse with a damp sponge, dry the coils and apply a light coating of WD40. Reassemble the cabinet, plug the unit in, turn it back ON and take it for a test drive. Be sure to clean the filter at least once every 2 weeks.

The most common cause of frost and ice buildup on a dehumidifier is because the unit is operating in temperatures that are too cold. Many dehumidifiers are not equipped to run at temperatures below 65 degrees Fahrenheit.
To fix this problem, Position the dehumidifier in an area where there is at least one foot of clearance around the unit in order to allow for proper air circulation during its operation. Close all windows, doors and other outside openings to make sure your unit isn't attempting to remove moisture from areas outside of the immediate room. Determine the temperature of the room by checking a nearby thermostat or by using a hand-held thermometer.

Check the filter for dirt and buildup. Unplug the unit from the electrical source and check the filter by opening the filter compartment. If the filter is dirty, it will restrict airflow through the unit and lead to freezing. Soleus recommends lightly vacuuming the surface of the filter to remove dirt. The filter also can be washed in warm water if it is extremely dirty. Once clean, place the filter back in its compartment. Allow for the ice to melt and then restart your dehumidifier.

hello, usually the suction line will form ice when there is low airflow due to a dirty filter or plugged eveaporator coil, also if the unit is clean then it is possible that the unit is low on refrigerant charge due to a leak. Inwould also check the thermostat on the unit to make sure it is fuctioning properly, I have seen may units where the thermostat cause the compressor to run continously and cause the suction line to freeze.

Hi, when the unit freezes up, it is either low on freon, a plugged a/c filter, or the evaporator coil is dirty and will need to be cleaned. When the evap. coil freezes up, the blower motor can't blow air through the coil. Check the filter, and behind the filter to see if the coil is dirty, just remove the screws to excess the evap. coil on this unit. Make sure the blower motor is running up to speed also. You will know. If the coil is dirty, try and clean it the best you can and replace the filter. If it continues to ice, you will need to have the freon level checked> These are the # 1 causes of coils icing up. Please let me know how it turns out.

Either your coil is dirty or filter is dirty. Worst case your low on freon which would make a coil freeze.But freon doesn't evaporate if your low there must be a slow leak.

Hi, if you are running this in cool when the icing occurs, there are several things that will cause this. #1, make sure the indoor fan is running up to full speed. #2, make sure that the indoor coil where the air comes in is clean and that the filter media is also clean and not clogged with dirt. The reason I asked if you were running it in cool when this happens is if this were a heat-pump and you were running it in heat, the ice would build up on the outdoor unit and you would have a defrost problem, so just forget that unless this is happening. If fan is running up to speed good and strong, the filter behind the cover on the indoor unit is clean and not clogged and the coil behind the indoor unit is clean, you will have a freon leak somewhere in the unit. Check what I have told you first. Use a ladder if you need to reach the indoor unit. Make sure all is clean and if the foam type filter is old and rotten, you can get some at a hardware store, like Home Depot, Ace Hardware, and so forth. If it continues to ice up, you do have a small freon leak and this will take a certified service tech to locate leak and recharge the system. Most leaks occur on these ductless splits at the freon lines where the lines screw together at the indoor coil to the outdoor unit. I have seen this happen many times as a A/C Refrigeration contractor. You do have a top of the line system I have to say, very little calls to make repairs on the Mitsubishi split system. Lets hope its just a coil or filter that is plugged up not letting air through the coil which will ice up the unit. Keep me posted and feel free to correct me if I was wrong about the way the unit is set up.Also, keep me posted on what you have found and if you have or have not solved the problem. try running the fan on high speed , but the unit probably needs some freon

If the tube you are referring to is the larger of the two, it may be that one of these conditions exist.
Inadequate airflow over the indoor coil due to:
Plugged air filter
Plugged indoor coil
Blower not running to speed
Blocked return air or blockage in the ducts
Blower wheel fouled with debris
In some cases damaged valves in the compressor will cause the tube to ice up.
