Dell Vostro (with Vista) Speakers don't work...

I've got Windows Vista (service pack 1) installed on a dell vostro 1400 laptop and the speakers won't work, and only one headphone jack (of two) works.
The computer says that the speakers are not plugged in even though they are built into the computer and worked two weeks ago, when I last used it.

Please help!!!

Thanks.

I tried downloading the driver from dell, but every time I run it I get a message that says "ExitError:Error= Device Object not present, restart the system and run set up again," and after restarting it three times it still won't work...

    thanks for the help anyway...

Once any OS is installed over old one or clean install is done one of the drivers that has to be usually reinstalled is sound drivers. You will have to go to dell.com and choose support and downloads and find ur system and install the new vista driver. This should fix it. Good luck.

Internal speakers do not works

Unplug Headphones. Open Control Panel, Sounds, select Speakers. Perhaps Headphones are set as default. The Dell Audio drivers can be found here: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/vostro-1400 Do ALL your Windows and Dell updates, if you haven't already, after a install.

Am an able to load audio driver for Dell Vostro 1400 i downgraded my laptop with xp service pack 2

Please click on this LINK. This will take you to the support site of DELL. Make sure you have your Service Tag which you can find at the bottom.

Once there:

1. Select Drivers & Downloads.
2. Enter Service Tag

You will be taken to the page that lists your computer details including the drivers.

3. Change the Operating System option to Windows XP.

This will refresh the list of drivers that is applicable to Windows XP only.

Vostro 1500 speaker problem

Make sure you dont have the laptop muted. Seems simple, but ive caught myself with a muted computer before. First, check to see if your computer is muted, by looking at the little speaker icon by the clock. if there is no speaker there, go into control panel> sounds and audio devices, and check there. Lastly if you have no sound, check your media player, because the player itself can be muted/turned down as well. I hope that helps
