Feed and Tear Off position problem

I am printing multi-part Bill Of Lading forms on a ML320 Turbo. The application is an older DOS application that prints directly to the printer rather than using a Windows printer driver. It feeds the correct number of lines to match the form's 8.75" form length. Until a couple of days ago the form would print and then stop after the last blank line. Tear Off is set to OFF so the shipping people would press the Tear Off button to feed the form to the perforation and then press the Tear Off button again to return to the Top of Form.

I don't know if someone accidentally changed a setting or something but now the printer feeds after printing as if the form were 11" in length. The perforation is above the tear Off position even before hitting the Tear Off button by about 1/2". Unless the form is manually returned to the Top of Form position before printing additional forms, they will be mispositioned.

I have tried everything I can think of to return this printer to the way it operated previously with no luck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Brian Miller

We had a power failure and now our Lexmark 2391 dot matrix printer will not print from the top of the page. i need to know how to setup/reconfigure the top of the page? thank you

  1. Push the ALT button and then the PARK LOAD button to back the paper out.
  2. Push the PARK LOAD button to reload the paper. The Ready light should now be blinking.
  3. Use the MICRO up or down buttons to adjust as needed, making sure that the top of form is set on the very first page that enters the printer. Typically, the top edge of the first sheet of paper should be even with the ribbon.
  4. When the page is lined up properly, press the START/STOP button. The printer will record the current position as the top of form and then feed paper to the tear off position.
  5. Use the MICRO up and down buttons to place the top of the paper at the tear off bar.
  6. After the tear off is positioned properly, press the START/STOP button twice to save the tear off position.
  7. Test the positions with a sample print job. If the alignment is still off, follow this entire procedure from the beginning again as needed.

Oki 321 turbo in PPR emulation mode, does a form

Generally the form feed character is sent by your software. Try setting the page length in the printer setup to be the length of one label.

How to do a reverse form feed in Visual Basic 6

Two things to consider:

1) The printer itself must be designed to handle reverse form feeds. I am not sure how many these days are.

2) If you're printer can handle reverse form feeds then it should be a simple matter to send the appropriate ascii code to the printer to initiate it. Much the same as if you wanted to have the printer do a line feed.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa.

Form won't line up

your feed assembly needs to be replaced, the gears wear out on them and the next thing you know, it's moving on it's own.

Printer is not aligning paper properly.

Please try the following to resolved that issue:

1. Make sure the printer is turned on and the desired tractor is selected (the corresponding tractor arrow should be lit).
2. Open the upper cover.
3. Press the Top of Form button to enter top-of-form mode. The printer beeps once, and the Top of Form light turns on.
4. Use the Micro Feed buttons to feed the paper to the desired top-of-form position. The “A” on the ribbon protector shows you where the bottom edge of your first line of text will print. This position is based on the first printable line of text. If your software inserts a top margin of five lines, your text will actually print five lines below the top-of-form position.
5. Press the Top of Form button again to exit and save your new top-of-form position. Then close the top cover.
