SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Camera does not recogonize a memory card?

Make sure you're using SD cards, not SDHC cards. SD cards max out a 2GB. If your cards are larger than 2GB then they will not work in the 5600.

With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions. Then, insert the new card and do the format thing again.

Only stores to internal memory not memory card

1. Go into the camera menu and find "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions. 2. With no card in the camera, format the internal memory.
3.Don't wait for a message...format the card in the camera (never in the computer).

Locked card

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

If that doesn't work, try another card.

Memory Card Error

The SD card has a lock switch to prevent existing data from being erased. To record images or movies this switch must be in the normal (non lock) position. Different brands of SD memory cards may identify this switch differently. Regardless the procedure should be the same. Try removing the card from the camera and be sure that the switch is not in the locked position.

This error message means that the memory card is write-protected. To take a picture, turn off the camera. Then insert a new card or change the storage location to internal memory
