PS3 HDMI - Sony Bravi KDL-40V2000 Problem

I am trying to switch my PS3 to HDMI on my sony Bravia KDL-40V2000. So I connect my HDMI cable to the T.V. and I open the PS# on regular resolution. When I open the PS3, i get a message saying "An available HDMI device was detected. Do you want to output video and audio using HDMI?" This obviously means that the HD cable works. However, when I say yes, I go the AV which is meant for HDMi, AV4 in my case, and I find nothing but a blank screen.
What do I do??!!

Thanks a lot for the quick response. There are just a few things i want to clarify

    1 - I have a PS3 not an xbox
2 - When I am not using HD (On normal resolution, I'm not on a different T.V., I'm just on another AV (external output)

I tried switching to HDMI settings then removing my av cables, but there was still no picture :(

Do you have any other suggestions

I tried that numerous times as well, but it didn't work. I think the problem is with the T.V. not the ps3. When I press yes to change to hdmi settings, the screen in the external output for normal resolution disappears (Which is normal), however I year a click or beep right after. I don't know what that is. When I go to hdmi external output (AV4) I can't see anything as well. So when i press yes, I can see a screen on neither the external output for normal resolution or hdmi

The TV only has one HDMI port

Yes, the ps3 works on the TV and I have played using HD numerous times

  • Anonymous May 09, 2010

Like I said, I think the problem is from the TV not the PS3 itself. So I think there will be no difference if I reset the ps3 that way. I have tried numerous times anyway

Sorry if there was a misunderstanding. I misread your words

I don't think there is another one, im downloading the guide for my tv model to double check

I am positive that the av i am on is for the hdmi. I have used the hdmi numerous times before on this av and it even says hdmi in the back of the tv

    Sorry that was an accident

Like I said before... I cannot find the second port so I am downloading the manual for my tv model to find out where it is.

Are you sure there are two hdmi ports, i downloaded the manual and the diagram only labels one. I might be wrong, but I have searched everywhere for another port and I can't find anything :(

  • Now, press andhold the power button in the front down. Your ps3 will beep twice. Letit go almost exactly after you heard the second beep.
  • Wait 10-15 seconds. A display will show up, and just answer yes to all!

have you tried both HDMI ports on the tv

has the ps3 ever worked on the TV

the steps that i have told you above do it with just the HDMI plug in the ps3 and the power plug ignore the SCART or PHONO jacks

i dont say anything about resetting the ps3 in my second post

try plugging the hdmi plug in a different hdmi port on the back of your tv
your tv has two hdmi ports try the other one

also double check that the AV channel is correct by lookinh at the back and reading the av number where the hdmi plug is plugged in to the tv

Sony Bravia KDL 40X2000 HDMI both cutting out

Sounds like a handshake problem with the HDMI outputs on the devices. I have never seen BOTH HDMI inputs have the problem. It could be a problem in the TV where the HDMI signal is processed or the HDMI jacks may have been stressed and this is why you have an intermittent problem. By stressed I mean that the jacks have been bent by inserting the cables wrong or pulling up or down on the cables when they were plugged into the unit.

Toshiba HDTV + SONY PLAYSTATION 3 + SONY Home Theatre DAVHDX265

I have looked up the infomation on your TV I noticed that your TV has two HDMI input plugs. Since your SONY BRAVIA is hooked up to one port, you need to buy another HDMI cable for your PS3. On your tv remote you should have an option to switch from video 1 to video 2 so then you can switch from the SONY BRAVIA to the PS3 the problem is you will only hear your PS3 Sound from you TV. If you want to hear your PS3 sound from your SONY BRAVIA you need to buy an optical cable (also called TOSLINK) to connect from your PS3 to the SONY BRAVIA.

Hope that helps!
