How do I turn on my touch pad on an Asus lap top?

Please try the Fn+F6 or Fn+F8 key combinations. If you look at the Function keys in the keyboard, they will have symbols on them in Blue color, the same color as the Fn key. Find the symbol that resembles a touchpad like a mouse/box with finger , then hold down the Fn key and press that Function key, ie, F6 or F7 or F8. This will enable/disable the touchpad.

I turned off my touch pad to my acer aspire 5733z and it wont turn bk on

Locate the "Fn" key in the lower right or left corner of the laptop keyboard.

The "Fn" key typically has different colored text on it or the key itself is a different color.

Locate the function (F1 through F12) key at the top of the keyboard that disables or enables the touchpad on the laptop.

The key typically has an icon that resembles a touchpad with a finger touching it or a touchpad with a diagonal line through it.

Press both the "Fn" and touchpad Function key simultaneously to reactive the touchpad on your laptop.

Move your finger along the touchpad to verify that it works.

Press the combination at any time to disable the touchpad again.

hope this helps

When get to my home screen my cursor wont move when I move my finger on the mouse pad.

I'm assuming that you are using a laptop. If so, then look around for a button that locks out your touch pad from being recognized. Some laptops have the Touch pad "On\Off" button just above the touch pad. Other laptops will require you to do a key-combination to turn the touch pad On or Off. To do this typically requires you to press the FN or Function key while pressing one of the keys between F1 - F12. There should be a symbol\icon of a different color on whichever key it is that will give you an idea of what that key's function is. Every laptop is setup and arrange slightly different.

I need an explanation as to the secondary function of the keys on my NB305. Mainly the top row of 'F' keys, but the remainder of the keyboard as well. What do all these little symbols on the keys mean?

F1 through F12 are called function keys because they execute programmed functions when pressed. Used in combination with the Fn key, keys marked with icons execute specific functions on the computer. The function executed by individual keys depends on the software you are using.

1. Sound Mute: Pressing Fn + ESC in a windows environment turns sound on or off. Press Fn + Enter to simulate Enter or the enhanced keyboard's numeric keypad. 2. Instant security: Press Fn + F1 to blank the screen to prevent others from accessing your data. To restore the screen and original setting, press any key or press the Touch Pad. 3. Power save mode: Pressing Fn + F2 changes the power save mode. 4. Standby: When you press Fn + F3, the computer enters Standby. 5. Hibernation: When you press Fn + F4, the computer enters Hibernation. 6. Display selection: Press Fn + F5 to change the active display device. Hold down Fn and press F5 again to change the device. 7. Internal LCD screen Brightness: Pressing Fn + F6 decreases the display brightness in decrements. 8. Internal LCD screen Brightness: Pressing Fn + F7 increases the display brightness in increments. 9. Wireless setting: If your computer has both Bluetooth and Wireless LAN functions, you can press Fn + F8 to select which type of wireless communication you want to use. 10. Touch Pad: Pressing Fn + F9 in a windows environment enables or disables the Touch Pad function. 11. Press Fn + F10 or Fn + F11 to access the integrated keypad. When activated, the keys with gray markings on the bottom edge become numeric keypad keys (Fn + F11) or cursor control keys (Fn + F10). The power on default for both settings is off. Press Fn + F12 (ScrLock) to lock the cursor on a specific line. The power on default is off. 12. TOSHIBA Zooming Utility (reduce): To reduce the icon size on the desktop or the application window, press the 1 key while holding down the Fn key. (13. TOSHIBA Zooming Utility (enlarge): To enlarge the icon size on the desktop or the application window, press the 2 key while holding down the Fn key.

My dog walked on my keyboard and now my pointer wont work . its visible but the synaptics touch pad wont work

was the computer on when the dog walked across the keys? there's a good chance that the dog hit the key combination that turns the touchpad on/off. Look at your F-keys up top and try to find a symbol in blue that resembles either the square-ish touchpad and/or a touchpad with a finger pointing at it. To turn such things on/off you'd hold the Fn key(usually down by the Ctrl or Windows key) and tap the touchpad symbol F-key.

I hope that works out well for you.

My mouse pad isnt working but a USB mouse is, tried to use Fn+F7 but didnt work. Any help?

Is there a function key on the laptop? (Fn usually blue ink) is there a key with the symbol that looks like mouse pad. Hold down Fn then the mouse pad key and that should enable the mouse pad.

As you have suggested the F7 key is the one for the mouse pad, and hasn't made any difference, have you somehow corrupted the drivers. You can download them from the acer website.

when did it last work, you cloud try a system restore. Remember to press Fn + F7 again and give it a moment to enable( just in case the last time you tried it, you turned the hardware off despite it's lack of functionality)

Toshiba keyboard key explanation

fn stands for function, its usually a blue key on the lower left corner.

holding this will activate any key that has a secondary print on it, these are usually blue as well. so if theres a contrast looking icon or brightness- holding fn and then pressing that key will alter the settings.

Number pad

You can't make the alternate characters like °, ®, ♂, σ etc with a combination number pad. You need to have a seperate number pad. I use a $20 plug in keyboard.
