Cable and wireless question

I currently have internet access via Time Warner/cable. I also have a 2WIRE wireless modem. I would like to connect the 2Wire wireless modem to the cable router and gain wireless and well as wired access. Is this possible?

Thanks

Not possible, since the "input" to the 2WIRE modem is a 4-wire telephone-line, not an 8-wire Ethernet cable.

Instead, spend about $40 to buy a D-Link Wireless G modem, and connect its WAN port to the cable-modem, and connect up to 4 Ethernet cables to "wired" computers, and configure the "wireless" component of the D-Link router.

NetGear Gateway Access Problem

No to warner's locking the modem. 192.168.0.1 is the correct address for accessing the options within the modem. incidentally the Motorola wireless modem works better. Go on line to Netgear technical service and they will guide you through the task of setting up the system.

Missing link between DSL Cable and D-Link Systems HD Media Router 1000 (DIR-657)

What is the Time Warner modem? Make, Model? If you have a Ethernet port RJ45 connect the wireless device via a ethernet cable. You may need a splitter if there is only one Ethernet RJ45 port. Example: http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-RJ45-Splitter-Cable-Adapter/dp/B00009XSZE

Trying to connect my ps3 to the internet but need wireless route

That won't work because your old sbc wireless router 2wire gateway is also a modem. You need a plain router for Time Warner. Try Linksys router.

Can i use my 2700gh-b dsl 2wire wireless modem as wireless router to time warner cable? If so, how? I'm a newbee. Please help! Thanks in advance.

This Router designed for DSL internet. It wont work for cable internet. Best thing is to trade in with a normal access point or wireless network router. Like Linksys, Belkin, Netgear etc

Not recognized by cable modem

Turn everything off for 2 minutes, cable modem, router and pc.

Turn on modem and wait 2 minutes for the modem to sync to TW.
Turn on router after 2 mins and wait until the router syncs with the modem.
Turn on PC
It sounds like your router lost its connection to the cable modem, which happens from time to time. TW will not help with your router. I worked for a cable co and the router and modem losing sync was the at least 70% of the calls. FYI cable doesn't use DSL,just the phone co.

Have SBCglobal with 2wire but want N wireless capability

Follow the dots -

2 wire DSL wire to back of DSL modem.

Ethernet cable out of DSL modem, to current router (if you have one).

Ethernet cable out of current router (if you have one) to new Wireless N router.

If you currently have a wireless G router, keep it, or, use the new Wireless G/N router alone. You will need to set up all security settings again if you remove your current router, and if the new router is N only, you will need to make sure all your wireless connecting computers have wireless N cards in them.

Can any computer connect to the internet?
You said you connected the computer with the cable to the 2wire using an ethernet cord, did it go to the internet?

Do you have a modem connected with the 2wire? (not a computer modem)

Do you have the DSL package or Cable package from Time Warner?

Wireless router

What is the make and model of your router?

What type of internet access do you have (DSL or cable)?

Are you connecting the computer with a cable or via wireless?

If you have verified that the cable connections are correct then I would try to power cycle next.

1. Unplug the modem, router and turn off the computer.
2. Plug the modem in and wait 5 minutes.
3. Plug the router back in.
4. Turn the computer back on.

Let me know the details for the above questions if we need to go further.
