Sounds like you need to format the hard drive then try a new install

check your display driver connectivity,, re install the vga driver and reboot your computer.

Try formatting your windows into windows vista or windows 7. It might solve you problem.

If you have the Windows XP recovery disk you should boot into the disk and do a repair install of the Windows OS. You can also press 'F8' before or right after the Windows XP splash screen comes up and tell it to either boot into Safe Mode or "Boot with last configuration that worked". If you boot into safe mode, go to control panel and programs and uninstall the sp2 installation. Please comment back if you need further assistance. Install the Windows updates including XP SP3, as these are needed.

go to the setup menu then "on" the play or plug OS then save it

Kindly get me the drivers as i have installed xp in my compaq system. and i want drivers for that

Remove the device first from control panel,
select your sound device,remove,
Reboot and restart,
Now install the device drivers via device manager,
select the yellow question marked device,
right click and update
put in disk when wizard prompts you
let wizard find correct drivers and it should be all good
reboot and do SP2 updates for windows,
This will give the devices the correct instructions and work.
