This is the end-of-tape signal. Try turning the cassette over. If this does'nt work then there is no tape drive due to the belt coming loose or breaking.

Hello I don't recognize that model may be you try to say Philips Digital Pocket Memo LFH9370.
Your unit charges two ways via power supply direct on the portable or via docking station, make sure you have the proper rechargeable batteries you must have the LFH9154 if you don't have this batteries you can buy them on the next link http://www.tvps.com/Products/Philips-LFH9154-AAA-NiMH-Rechargeable-Batteries---New-9154__PH-LFH9154.aspx

When recording and on playback, there is a very loud hum over the recording and voice is barely audible.

There is an internal switch for record/playback. This commonly fails causing this issue. It will need to be replaced.

Phillips Pocket Memo 381 The button you press in when recording will not press in! Any ideas tThe machine plays back tapes OK

You cannot push it in without a recordable tape in the unit. The mini cassette tapes have a removable erase prevention tab on each side in the front. If removed, you cannot push record. Try another tape. Otherwise the recorder needs repair.

Hi, When i try and record onto the machine it does not run, it sticks, tried new batteries but no difference, machine is about 2 years old, David.

If ther is no drive, even in fast forward or reverse, the the belt may have come off the motor pulley. Otherwise you may have a hair wrapped around the tiny drive cogs under the turntable.

Philips Pocket Memo 398 dictation machine - spindles not turning

Most likely cause here is a broken drive belt. This machine is at least ten years old. The belts for the latest model (381) will fit, but it's a tricky job to fit.

Unable to understand how to dictate and play back

It may seem too obvious, but make sure the volume control is turned up fully. If you do not hear a click through the loudspeaker when pressing the record button then either the 'speaker wire has broken or the 'speaker itself is dead. Parts are still available.
