Just be a little carefull jumping of a car battery with a higher amp\hr rating than the bike battery, It will accept more amps than the bike electrical is designed to produce and can spike the regulator.

If you push the start button and the solenoid clicks the button is good. Find the solenoid ( usually by the battery follow the positive cable.) and jump the two posts with a screw driver, piece of wire , or jumper cables if the starter now works you need a new solenoid. At this point you either have a bad battery or a bad starter. Jump the bike with a good automotive battery (can be in the car just make sure car is not running or you could damage bike.) If bike starter still does not work try new starter brushes for a Goldwing they are cheao and easy to replace. If brushes look good ( not down to wear marks ) you need a starter ( bad armature ). I'm guessing the solenoid is bad (first choice) or you need brushes. Good Luck

SOURCE: bike just clicks when starter is pushed, replaced

Put your charger on charge for a day or so ... is it a maintenance free battery? If so, charging is your only option. If you can get into the cells, you could perform a hydro test on it ... you will be looking for a number near 1300. If you don't have a hydrometer, you may want to take the battery to a auto parts store for them to test it.

clean the ground leads and the positive connecting from battery to solenoid to starter the solenoid is what is clicking after it is cleaned if it still does this the solenoid may be the fault. to hot start it turn key to on position then get a screw driver and jump it across the two battery wires on the solenoid this will engage the starter and start the bike good luck

Hi,
This will be either the starter solenoid is faulty or the starter motor needs replacing.Have the solenoid checked before removing the starter motor.

Hi my bike was on my stand i started and accidently put the bike into first gear and it sytaled right away..and now its not turning over wen i try and start it, it makes a clicking sound but wont turn...

The bike must be in neutral when the kickstand is down or it will shut down. Its a safety feature.

Put the bike in neutral and it should fire right up.

If you can't get it out of gear, sit on the bike, put the kickstand up, pull the clutch in turn the key on and hit the start button, and it should fire right up.Make sure on/off button is on too.

If you tried that and it still clicks, check battery voltage, a low battery makes the solenoid click.
Make sure you have a clean battery terminals and tight terminals.
Check battery voltage. Most auto parts places will load test them for free.

If battery is good and it is in neutral and it still clicks, then the starter solenoid is bad.
replace the solenoid. And your bike should fire right up

When i try to start it i can hear a clicking noise coming from the starter but it wont start

Have you had your battery checked? Take the battery out of the bike and take it to an automotive parts store. Ask them to load test it for you. If the battery tests good, put it back in the bike making sure that ALL connections are clean and tight.

If it still just clicks, you may have problems with the solenoid part of your starter. You can take the five sided plate off the back of the solenoid and check the large copper contacts in the solenoid. If they're badly burned, you can replace the contacts.

Good Luck

Engine cuts out sporadically when driving and wont turnover when trying to start for a few minutes after. When starting if clicking noise comes from the rectifiers the bike will start if no click bike wont...

It sounds like the starter solenoid (you said rectifier clicking) may have burnt contacts. If you jump the solenoid with a piece of wire (touch the wire coming from the battery to the wire going to the starter ) and the starter works, it's a bad solenoid. If you hold the starter button and gently tap on the starter with a plastic hammer and the starter works, you need to replace the starter brushes.

Biek wont start just clicking?

I drive the bike every day or two and it always starts immediately. Does this sound like a starter or solenoid or something else? Well tried to jump start the bike and it wouldn't start just the same clicking sound. Also tried to jump over the solenoid with a screwdriver and nothing happened. Then I tried to push start the bike and again nothing. I can tell the battery is weak but even push starting, I should be able to start it without a battery right? ,,,
