Based on your concern, I suggest trying the following steps:
1. You can download the audio driver here:
--> this audio driver is compatible with windows xp.
2. After downloading, install the audio driver then restart your computer

Install this driver: Conexant Audio Driver.
If that does not install automatically, go to device manager right click on the audio device and choose to install the driver maually.
Choose 'have disk' and browse to find the driver. It is probably in C:\Drivers\Conexant Audio Driver\XP32 .

At point 7 choose "Don't Search I know the driver location" then choose "install from a specific location", then choose "have disk" and browse to locate the driver downloaded from link above. If the driver does not show up, untick "Show only compatible hardware"
