Tyies to Start

My 65 pint Haier dehumidifier keeps trying to start then stops over and over when the humidity is near the humidity set point. But as the humidity get a little higher it starts and keeps running okay and dehumifies as it is suppose too. Keeps running this cycle.

How do i know how to set controls on my model 40 Friedrich dehumifier

I would set them to the relative humidity I wanted in that area. You want to keep below 50% otherwise you will eventuially get mold growth.

Humidity sensor

Go to Http://www.Haier.com/us/products/home-comfort/dehumidifiers . Select the model number and proceed to the Manual. Download the manual and look at the E-Codes to solve your problem.

Dehumidifier runs continuously and displays higher than normal humidity levels.

Probably some glitch with the sensors. I recommend taking it to a service center.

I am showing a HI on my current humidity/set humidity display what does it mean

The HI indicates that the current humidity is 90%+ in the room/unit. You should check if the filter is clogged. I've seen this message in dryer locations when the dehumidifier coils ice up. Check the coils (behind the filter) for any build up.

If this is a brand new dehumidifier, leave it on for an hour to see if it auto-defrosts. (A similar wait is needed if the room is cooler that 60 degrees F.)

If the unit continues to freeze up and the room is over 60 degrees, you may have a refrigerant leak in the dehumidifier. If it is still under warranty (5 years on the cooling system), contact Haier. The warranty service number is 1-877-337-3639.

The manual for the DE65EK is available here: www.haieramerica.com/downloads/dl/file/id/26/de65ek_manual.pdf . You will need Adobe Reader or a similar program to access the manual.

I hope this helps.

I have lost my instruction manual and cannot change te temperature and humidity settings. How do you do this?

Here is a link to an Owner's Manual for a Haier 45 pint dehumidifier. Not sure if yours exactly like it or not, as you didn't mention a model number. You can download and print the manual for future reference.

http://www.haieramerica.com/cool-heat-air-quality/dehumidifiers/45-pint-capacity-electronic-control-115-volt-dehumidifier-de45ek-7

Look for the download in the left hand lower left on the page.

Hope this helps and thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have a Haier 65 pint dehumidifier. When I press the control button to lower the humidity setting, the word On comes up and I do not see numbers lowering.

Let's start from the beginning. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF. Unplug the unit for 5 minutes. Then plug the unit back end, and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Now, lower the the humidity extraction level to 40%, by using the Arrow Down Button. You will need to lower it by pushing the button for each % setting. DO NOT push and hold the Arrow Down Button.

Doing the above should solve the problem.

The dehumidifier runs for a few minutes and then shuts down. The humidity indicator shows that the humidity is 75% high in the room that it sits and I have it set for 40%. I'm thinking that it's a timer...

Hi,
There are many reasons why a dehumidifier willnot work or collect water.
Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrongwith their dehumidifier

What # should I set humidity on/

Perfect humidity is 50% according to conventional wisdom. As far as a number to sit it on ... well you will have to refer to the owners manual.

Dont have one --- contact Haier. I found them to be very helpful, particularly when I wanted a no longer in production machine manual.

It might be that the air you are dehumidifying is already lower than you think. You could measure the humidity independently.

User Manual has no guidelines.

When you first turn on the unit it is set to 40% humidity which is the lowest the unit will accept. You can only move the up arrow from that point. The 63 you are seeing is the actual humidity. If you want 50% youo need to press up arrow till 50 is displayed. The manual for this unit is terrible. Just leave it as it is and it will attempt to bring it down to 40%. 30 to 50 is the recommended humidity range.
