It's not a big problem, if you don't have idea on how to open and how to solder, better go to the repairing shop and get it done by the technician let them do it for you, the problem is only with the mic, if it's not functioning anymore (dead) they'll replace with a new one. good luck..

How come people can't hear me from my headset?

Volume only has to do with the sound level you hear.

The only thing that affects the sound the other ends hears is the microphone, Have you tried moving the mic? Has the headset ever worked properly?

If the other end hears you at all, then the headset SHOULD NOT be muted, but it's worth checking out. They put the mute switch on the underside of the boom mic and sometimes people hit the switch by mistake when moving the boom.

Cannot hear the ring on a particular phone. The same phone also cannot hear anything when using the "Handsfree" feature, nor can antyhing such as voice mail messages, be heard through the...

There is a speaker test you can do. Press the feature button then on the dial pad press 805 followed by the # key or the next key until you see speaker test in the display. Press the test key or the hold button to start the test. You should hear a page tone at maximum volume. Press any button to end the test, the volume will return to its previous level.

The phone is mute by pressing the handsfree/mute button(bottom left button). sometimes the button labels do not match the feature that is programmed for the button. Press feature * 0 and any button to see what feature is programmed on the button.

I can hear the other person but they can't hear me

Your headset may be muted. Try to unmute the call. The mute function is enabled through the volume buttons. Simply tap both volume buttons at the same time until you hear a mute tone. The mute tone when unmuting the call will be a descending tone. When you tap both volume buttons, if you hear a descending tone you have just disabled the mute function and your problem is solved. If the mute tone is ascending tones you have just enable the mute function and this was not the issue. If this is the case consult your user manual or contact Motorola for trouble shooting.

I can make and receive calls, but I cannot hear anything.

Check Windows Sound mixer for application volume. Down in system tray at right side of taskbar double click sound icon for XP or click sound icon once and click Mixer for Vista. Look through volume settings for your phone application. Make sure it is not muted and volume is up.
