I bought a Canon PowerShot A610 in June 2005 for my son. We
stay in South Africa. 2 years ago he moved to Australia. When I visited him in
February this year, he asked me to bring the camera back home. But I forgot to
bring to cd with to install on my computer. What can I do now ?
Unfortunately, Canon does not offer these discs for download on their site. You would likely need to purchase used from eBay (not recommended). But please take this as an opportunity to try an alternative (and what many believe a better way) to download your photos.
Highly recommend that you consider using a USB card reader to download your pictures. You insert the camera's SD card into the reader, and then insert the reader into a USB port on your computer. The card then shows up as a hard drive so that you can simply copy/paste or drag your picture files onto your computer. Card readers are much more faster in downloading pics, do not require the use of your camera's batteries, and provide much more reliable downloading of the pictures (fewer errors). They're also VERY inexpensive these days, and widely available. Here are some examples from China (with free worldwide shipping). But there are many others available on the net if you look.
