Consult your owner's manual. Make sure the upper blade has not been raised, ie for cleaning. If the blades have knicks or have been used for quite some time, it could be time for replacement. Usually, one blade can be replaced by the user, but the other should be installed by a knowledgeable technician. The owner's manual should have some instructions about changing blades.
Mine was destroyed in the floods a few weeks ago and I found a download and printable one at simplicityhomecare.com click on the download tab and select manuals and then under sergers chose your model. Good luck with your project.
Your knives may be blunt and need sharpening or replacement.
Check also if the knives are aligned properly. Remove the material and turn the handwheel slowly. The knives should pass each over like a pair of scissors and there should not be any cap between the blades.
If everything seems to be okay and it still does noet cut tne material, replacement is the only option.
