Hello guys
For the password to be removed the battery will not remove the password the only way to remove it is by hardware on this laptop or you can contact Toshiba with the challenge code.
1. At the BIOS password prompt ("PASSWORD = "), press and release the following keys, one after another:
Ctrl, Tab, Ctrl, Enter
The computer's response should be:
PC Serial No.= XXXXXXXXX
Challenge Code= XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX
Response Code=

Please, don't post if you don't know the soluce for this kind of protection. Maybe 'silveradoman' could explain us how we can use a software when the laptop ask us the pasword before the boot sequence... and s4u311, if you knew the solution, you knew that removing batt doesn't change anything with kind of laptop. tks

If removing the battery doesnt work you could try a program called "cmospwd-5.0".Also there is a newsletter called "WXPNEWS" that just had an article about aother programs for passwords.

Bios locked

I can't find a decent manual for your laptop but there will be 2 pins on the motherboard that will say BIOS Clear. Short these 2 pins and turn the computer on. This is the only way to bypass the BIOS password. This operation will clear the BIOS and reset to factory defaults. After the BIOS is cleared, turn the computer off and take off the short.

Unlock bios

If you need the BIOS password and you don't have it the only way to access it is to clear the BIOS. Since this is a notebook computer this will involve removing the main battery, disassembling a part of the laptop, and disconnecting the BIOS backup battery. Once the battery has been disconnected and reconnected it should have cleared the password on the BIOS.

Please can you urgently tell me how to start my computer in safemode it is a techra M5

Restart the computer, then when you see the toshiba screen, start tapping that f8 key. It should give you a screen to choose modes. If that doesn't work, only press it once during or after the toshiba screen.

How do i remove password on the bios of Toshiba tecra m5 laptop

The password exists to protect you, should a thief be in possession of your computer, and he/she tries to use your computer.

So, if you know the current password, you can enter BIOS SETUP, and change the password to "blank".

If you don't know the password, find the original sales-receipt, to prove that you are the owner, and telephone Toshiba, for assistance in bypassing the password.

clear the password
OR
2) using software www.hddunlock.com to to unlock the harddisk
OR
3) just got to a Toshiba authorized service center and get it Fixed

Tecra

If that is the power on password (BIOS) password, that can be removed by a repair center authorized by Toshiba for Toshiba laptops. If you are referring to the Windows password, that can be removed using full system recovery (like reformatting and reloading of the operating system and original programs and drivers) but you need to have the recovery disk for it. You can call Toshiba to check if you can purchase the recovery disks for it. Hope this helps. Thank you.
