These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Please let me know if it has a pattern of blinks (separated by a pause) or it will flash an exact number of times. Your unit (KV-34HS420) has a built in self diagnostic software that will indicate the probable caused of the fault by flashing of the LED at the front panel.

The most common failures are the flyback transformer assembly and sometimes some of its support components, and or there is the possibility of a short in the CRT electron gun. In either case, the power supply is going in to protect mode, and the uPC is sending this flashing error code to the front LED.
I have no idea if the flyback transformer assembly is still available, but I am very sure the CRT is no longer available. In any case you will find the cost of servicing your set to be expensive for its age. The last time I checked, the cost of the CRT exceeded the replacement cost of the set.

you probably need new power supply diodes or solder connections, you need a qualified tv repairman to fix this.

I HV A PROBLEM WITH SONY-KV-HA21M80 TV. WHEN THE SWITCH ON POWER ON AND GETTING OFF. FRONT LED IS BLINKING 4 TIMES. WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM. PLS HELP ME ON THIS.

Well 5 times blinking indicates EEPROM ic getting malfunction. Change this ic tv is working well and good. Note that this ic comes only in blank you have to program it as your tv model.

When it shuts off. Try doing what's called a self-diagnostic test.
As soon as the television shuts try these steps.

Pressing on the front panel's ?INPUT? and ?MENU? buttons at the same time, and holding for 5 seconds,
activates the Self Diagnostic Code Mode. The LED flashes denoting a two digit Error Code, or indicating no problem
has occured since the last Initalization.

Please do Note: The front panel buttons must be used, NOT those on the Remote Control.

? The number of flashes indicates the value of the MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code.
? The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2 second.
? The LED then flashes indicating the value of the LSD (ones digit) of the Error Code.
? The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.
Example: If the Error Code is ?24?, the LED will flash two times, pause, and then flash four
times.

The Error Code designations indicating a malfunction, or no malfunction, are listed below:
Self Diagnosic Code Description
1 - 2 = no error detected
2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current)
2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies)
2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection)
2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source).
