Hello

The LED code you described indicates a memory failure. Remove and re-install all of your memory. If this does not fix the issue, remove all memory and insert one stick at a time until the unit turns on. Replace faulty memory.

Here is the LED Code guide from Dell...

Why wont my optiplex 210l will not turn orange light is on

Normally, the amber power light means either a power supply or motherboard issue. There should also be lights on the back numbered 1-4 that give a specific error code depending on which ones are lit up. Here is a link to the manual so that you can figure out what the LED codes mean:

Dell optiplex sx270: loud, steady noise like an alarm a few seconds after I turn on the PC

You can check the meanings of the error beep codes HERE. Every beep code means something different. The bad thing is that the code I think you are speaking of is a fatal error.

Good luck

My Dell OptiPlex 260 won't power on. There's power to the cable (LED comes on on the block) but no lights on the PC....any suggestions?

Do you hear a fan running? If not, it sounds like your power supply needs to be replaced.

If it's under warranty, Dell should be able to send one out right away. If not, you may have to purchas one through them.

Good luck on this. And let us know how you make out.

Cheers,

TIH

I have a dell optiplex sx270 version PC.I had shut it down ,as we had a holiday the next day.I later tried to switch it on after my holiday .But it won't switch on .However the power adapter indicator...

it seems like the power button is at fault i doubt it will effect your data unless you pass it to a bad repair man who may erase everything your hard drive is a seperate entity and can be removed for backup

I would say this is a hardware issue. nothing anyone online can do for you with this type of issue unless you recently chaged something.

Hou do i reset bios on a dell optiplex sx270

  1. Boot up the computer into the setup (depending on your bios, to get into the bios you need to hit the DEL key during boot up.)
  2. Press 'ALT' and 'F' at the same time
  3. Turn 'NUM LOCK', 'SCROLL LOCK' and 'CAPS LOCK' on. (Make sure the lights on the keyboard are on.)
  4. Press 'ALT' and 'P' at the same time. The bios should now be reset to the factory settings.

Blown dell motherboard

Have you checked to make sure it wasn't the power supply? If this motherboard is still inside the pc and the cd/dvd lights up, or the network card shows life, fans, case lights, etc: than I would rule bad mobo. If nothing shows signs of life, try power supply or even better maybe a lose connection.Check all cabling and wire plugs. Clean out any dust.
