Try to hit the side very gently while switching ON the camera. Do this several times, It should reset the timing of lens.A little bit of more pressure can be applied while it is hitted. If does not reset, then the timing lens gear is damaged. Take it to qualified service technician to get full service. Thanks.

Casio exilim lens retracts wen u press to take pic

The battery probably needs charging. The camera will automatically shut down if the battery is going flat.
With the Exilim you need to make sure that you don't overcharge the battery by leaving it permanently docked in it's little docking station - this can damage the battery. There is an LED on the docking station which shows the status of the battery. Red is charging, green is fully charged - take it off the docking station.

Canon powershot sd30 digital elph

I have same problem. I turn on the camera you hear it trying to come on, shows display pic for like 3 seconds and then shuts down. If I could get the lens to retract I am sure the camera would work.

I have a canon ixus 900Ti. I turned it on yesterday and the lens came out as normal. when i went to take a pic the camera shut off but the lense never retracted. when i turned the camera back on the splash...

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

The lens on my camera won't retract.

The following blog outlines some repair options for a lens error. They won't work for all cases, but they're worth a try if the camera's no longer under warranty:

Lcd reads system error

Apparently often related to a lens motor malfunction. My old 4300 just gave this error for the first time today. The lens extended but made a whirring noise before the message popped up. Nothing I tried would fix it - but after I drove home it worked fine again.

I had a similar problem over a year ago after the camera fell out of my backpack (it was in its own bag but not well padded). When I used it the lens stuck and refused to retract, but I don't recall a "System Error" message. After a few tries, the lens went in and it's been fine since, until today.

Make sure there's nothing (dust, dirt) stuck in the lens barrels. Otherwise, just keep turning it on and off and hope it works.

Kodak easy share z612 will not turn on to take a picture

When the battery dies, usually the camera will retract the lens if possible. If the battery is so dead the lens can not retract, I would recommend trying to charge or change the battery. Or try to turn the camera on, and then manually shutting it off if you can.
