The Westminster/ Whittington clock means that it has 2 or 3 settings.
1. Silent
2. Westminster Based on the music My redeemer liveth by Handel
3. Whittington
Set the clock onto the westminster setting, this is the easiest. At quarter past the hour it should sound 4 notes. The half past should be 8 notes. Quarter to the hour should be 12 notes and the hour should be 16 notes then the striking of the hour. For example on 8 'O clock you should hear 16 notes then the clock should chime 8 times. Sometimes if the hour is out just gently stop the pendulum, check what hour the clock is striking then without taking the hands off move only the hour hand to the hour. Do not do this with the minute hand.
I hope this helps you! If you are not sure please email me [email protected] I fix these clocks.

I've know it is very simple but I lost the directions. Removing the minute hand is NOT AN OPTION.

Each press of the red button advances the chime count by one. I advanced the chime count one at a time until the count matched the displayed time.

Depends on what is happening. If the chimes progress from 4 notes to 16 notes and the the hour chimes, then you simple remove the minute hand and set it to whatever the chimes sound. Example, let the clock chime the hour. Remove the minute hand and set it to the hour. It should now be in sync.

How do I get the chimes to work on a howard miller grandfather clock they worked fine till I rewound the weights and stopped

There are a number of things that can cause this. The most obvious is to ensure the weights have been wound up (either by pulling the chain or using the key that comes with the clock). Next is to ensure the clock isn't on "silent" mode. Some clocks, especially the more expensive models, have a small pull rod just behind the clock face. You can usually find it by opening the front door, and looking just under the wood frame the surrounds the clock face. Pull or push to enable/disable silent mode. The next option is to look at the clock face/dial itself, check to ensure it's not on silent. Sometimes there is a lever on the right or left of the clock face. Next, some "triple chime" clocks have either a turn dial or lever on the left or right of the clock face. This lever usually has four options Westminster, St. Michael's, whittington and silent. Check to ensure it's not on silent. If it's on for example Westminister, try moving it to St. Michaels. If the clock then starts to chime, you know there is an issue with the movement that needs repaired. You can also open the clock, if you feel comfortable and check the lifting levers aren't stuck, I've found this a few times. Additionally, while it's a bit hard to explain, on some movements there is a long rod that pulls almost all of the rods back at the same to make the "bonging" sound when the hour chime arrives. This sometimes ends up misplaced on the wrong side of the chime hammers. As you can see there are a number of things that can cause a clock to stop chiming, but a little research on your model and some confidence and you can usually fix most problems fairly easily. The only exception is if the movement has been neglected over the years (failure to oil etc), in which case a rebuild may be required.?

I cannot figure out how to syncronize the time and chimes for a Seiko model AQF 153B with Westminster Whittington chimes.

The next time it chimes multiple times turn the hour hand clockwise until it is pointing at the number of times it gonged. Next take off the dial nut off (make sure to put it in a plastic bag because they can be hard to replace) and turn the minute hand until it chimes signaling 15 minutes after. Now put the minute hand back on pointing to 3 o'clock and replace your dial nut and you are all set.
