Hooking up a Bose Lifestyle 30 II to an optical audio output

I am trying to hook up my Bose lifestyle 30 II to a new Samsung LED tv. The tv only has an optical output for external speakers/sound system. Is there a converter that will allow me to hook the optical output to the Bose RCA inputs?? Thank you, Matt

Actually, you can do this. Just get an optical to RCA converter.
This looks like a good one: http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-40019-Optical-Converter/dp/B0002GV876/ref=pd_cp_e_2

Hey there Matt. No. You will have to include a Receiver in your component line. Joe

Trying to hook up Bose AV 321 media system to Samsung LED TV model

You can use a Optical to Analog audio adaptor (found all over the internet for under $30). You'll also need an optical cable that goes between the adaptor and TV. Be sure to set the audio output on the TV settings to PCM audio output, otherwise there will be no output.

How do I setup and new samsung led with a 12 year old bose lifestyle 25 series II?

... According to their manuals. The TV is new so it should cover that end. Bose.com covers the other.

I have installed the v30 bose lifestyle system but I can not get any video output on my Samsung led tv. I have tried the hdmi cable and the component cable. It both doesn't work.please help me with this

I recommend you stick with component cabling.

Having no picture at all generally suggests the V30 is trying a video mode your TV does not support:

  1. video type (PAL or NTSC)
  2. Progressive scan
  3. an HD resolution beyond your TV's range.
I hope that helps.

A ps3 and tried hooking it up with hdmi to the 'vcr' connection on the vs-2 of the bose Lifestyle 48 but i don't get any audio (video is fine). hooked up the ps3 with hdmi directly to the tv and get both...

hook up computer straight to t.v with hdmi cable. then get two aux cables (usually red and white) and run them straight from tv audio OUTPUT to audio INPUT on bose system. them anytime you want surround sound even when your watching tv just press the aux button on the bose system controller. should be perfect.

Have audio through TV can't get audio through Bose

It sounds like your signal path from the dvd is going through your TV, rather than through your Bose V30. Either find an audio out port on your TV and route it back to an aux in on the V30, or, preferably, run your DVR and your DVD to the V30, and then from the V30 to your TV.

I hope that helps.

We want to hook up an HDMI dvd player to the tv and have the sound come thru the Bose Lifestyle 38 (older model, did not come w/the HDMI converter that the 48 has or newer systems come with). We are not...

The best way to do this is to take your OPTICAL AUDIO OUT from your TV - (if it's a newer TV) - plug it in to the OPTICAL AUDIO IN on your BOSE system, then use the 'TV' source on your Lifestyle 38 to get the sound from. I have sound for X-Box, DVD player, Blue-Ray Player and Wii being pushed through the TV back to the BOSE and it sounds great. I don't have to change the source on the BOSE very much either - except when I listen to stored music!

Ive got bose lifestyle model 5 system and have just bought a samsung led tv, how to I connect up the bose to the tv??

There should be an AUDIO OUT left and right rca input/output plugs on the back of te TV; according to this, (http://www.bose.co.uk/GB/images/Lifestyle%205%20Series%20II%20Music%20System_tcm6-4083.pdf) the inputs for the audio are right next to the FM antenna port/plug so, if you have one of these; (http://www.inmax.ca/images/rca-cable.gif) just plug them in to the AUDIO OUT on your TV, and into the INPUT on your Bose system.

No sound from rear/ surround speakers on Bose V20

Yes, very easy and cheap if you get it from the right place. Fiber Optic going from the output of the device to the input of the receiver. If your lucky enough to have an input/output fiberoptic in your tv, run the fiber from the device to the tv input, fiber the output of the tv to the receiver so not only are you getting the device full surround sound, but you'll also get better TV surround sound for those that are made with Dolby pro logic II sound. (pretty much all the newer movies and shows)
