How do I replace a power supply on a Compaq Presario SR5110NX Desktop PC

you can purchase a power supply from any computer store *********** board supports both standard IDE and Serial ATA connections, so you want a power supply that does SATA power as well. Unplug the power cord from the back of the computer. remove the cover from the case and verify that there is no green LED on the board that is lit up (if there is, there is still power on the board). unplug all connections from the current power supply, including all drive power and the large 24pin plug (actually a 4 pin plug that is combined with a 20 pin plug) on the board, then unplug the 4 pin plug near the processor. careful that the 24 pin plug and the additional 4 pin plug near the processor have latches on the side. Remove the 4 screws that hold the power supply in and remove the power supply, install new supply and reinstall the 4 screws. first plug in the 4 pin plug that connects with the 20 pin, the 4 pin plug has no latch, it is held in place by the 20 pin plug. then plug in the 20 pin plug and the 4 pin next to the processor. then plug in the drive power to all of the drives. Install the power plug at the back of the system and you should see a green LED on the board when you insert the power. replace the cover and power the system up.

Nothing happens wheh i plug it in

It should have a little bit of a spark at the receptacle when you plug it in. This is the standby power supply starting. If you don't get a spark or slight pop at plug in I would start troubleshooting at the power supply. It could be the power supply itself or possibly a short off of the secondary of the power supply.

COMPAQ 272776-001 Power Supply 200W

They all do, I believe, I installed a new one, into my computer system not long ago, are you sure your power supply is one that the computer can handle? You shouldn't have that much of a problem - I wouldn't go pulling apart the wires on the power supply, its made like that for a reason, what you could try is see if your power supply has seated properly, sometimes if your not working on a flat surface the power supply plug won't go in properly and will not be pushed in all of the way, try laying your computer on its side, and pushing in the plug also, each motherboard has a certain amount of plugs for example 20 and 24, some motherboards want it to be a 20 power plug and others want it to be 24 power plug, thats the plug thats connected to your motherboard, that I'm talking about. make sure you have the right number, and that the motherboard plug and the power supply plug match, basically have the same number of connectors, (I mean that little white plug at the end of the red,yellow,black, wires, I hope this helps. ps- I really had to push on the white plug to get my seated properly

Im looking for a plug to put in a wall socket and im trying to use an older cobra29 cb radio. Can you help?

Hey AlexJacob

a mobile cb radio like the cobra 29 requires 12V DC, to plug the radio into the wall you need a Power Supply. A small 5 amp power supply will help you. Their is no plug that goes Directly from a Mobile CB rado into a wall. You will need to plug a power supply into the wall, Then take the power chord (red and black with 3 prong [o oo] and connect red to red on the power supply and black to black on the power supply. Unfortunatly a cheap power supply will be $50+ check your local radioshack

Power supply installation in gateway 610xl

to replace a standard ATX powersupply;

remove left hand side cover (ensure power is disconnected first);
disconnect the 20.24 pin primary power plug (big wide white one plugs directly onto the mainboard, also disconnect the 4 pin AUX power plug, looks just like the other one but is a smaller square shaped plug (older P3 boards will not have this)

disconnect all 4 pin power plugs from hard drives/cd drives and aftermarket fans (if any are installed), disconnect SATA power plugs from any SATA devices installed (flat black plug, 4 wires)

disconnect floppy drive power plug (if app) small while 4 pin power plug, once all of these are disconnected, looking at the rear of the computer there will be 4 screws holding the power supply in place, one screw will be more to the centre slightly to ensure you do not put it in upside down, once you remove those screws the power supply will slide right out.. simply re-do these steps in revers for instaling the new power supply
