Our Xerox Phaser 8550 Color Printer is showing as offline. How do I get it back online?

If connected via usb make sure the cable is plugged in and the printer is setup and turned on.

Check the status of the printer on the control panel.

If setup using the network cable, check to make sure there are no IP address conflicts, this can be a common issue. Basically your computer may be looking for the printer in another location and so you keep sending jobs to the printer but it's not responding yet you walk over to the printer and its ready or still in sleep mode. Basically a network setup and not a printer issue.

it may be the cartridges are dried up from being stored incorrectly take them back get new ones to rule that out first !! Hope this helps!!

Xerox Phaser 8550 having color quality issue

If you are using third party ink sticks contact the manufacture and they will, if you use enough of thier product, send you a new print head and send out a tech to change it. Media Science is the most likely source of third party ink.
You can also switch to Xerox ink sticks and the colors will be correct after several purges to get rid of the old ink.

Trying to match color between photograph on monitor to printer. OS is Vista.

The only way to get color matching with the solid ink line 8400, 8500, 8550, 8560, 8860. Is to build you own colors with the CMYK sampler printout.

Beware this will print over 50 pages of swatchs showing the mix of CMYK for various colors. Your can then look at the color you want and see how it's made up i.e. 30% 30% 40% yellow gives a orangish color. You can then build these colors and name them in your application.

You will NOT get Panotone color matching with the solid ink series.

Hi,

This means the Yellow ink sticks are jammed in the machine, open up the top of the machine and check if the sticks can slide freely up and down and remove any broken sticks.

The front panel shows nothing

When our control panel went blank last month, Xerox did not offer a free replacement because our printer was out of warranty. Consequently, we ordered one from SparePartsWarehouse.com at the best price we could find - $104.87 plus shipping. The part number for our 8550dp is 848K06551, but these are the compatible part numbers for the "Xerox 8500 Control Panel & Bezel": Compatible Part Numbers: 848K06551, 101E28730, 101E28731, 802K93650, 802K93651, 848K06550, 848K06552.
